Action Down

About Me

Steve Anderson (Guitar, Vocals) - A great band needs a bald guy (take our word on this!), and for Action Down, Steve is that guy. He warms the grooves with silky-smooth vocals and a versatile playing style. Influences include Eric Clapton, Joe Satriani, Rik Emmett, Brian "Too Loud" McLeod, Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page. Proficient on several instruments, Steve is able to hold his own in just about any musical situation. Our M.O... Just put him under the lights and watch him shine!
Frank Horton (Bass, Vocals) - With his bass in your face, Frank will definitely let you know what the bottom line is. Fat grooves and funky slap riffs litter his solid performances every time. Frank's been laying it down for over 30 years and is well versed in music theory and a number of styles and instruments. With influences like Jaco Pastorius, Les Claypool and Dave LaRue, Frank loves nothing more than laying down a tasty bottom... you know what we mean?
Chris Underwood (Keys, Vocals) - No stranger to classical theory and able to play a number of styles with finesse, panache and a certain... je ne se qua, Chris eats, sleeps and breathes keyboard prowess. His influences include John Paul Jones, Chuck Lavelle, Gregg Allman and Billy Powell to name a few. We think you will find that Chris always has just what the situation calls for... whether it's tickling the middle with some tasty piano or filling in the bottom with a warm organ.
Ruben Duarte Jr. (Drums, Vocals) - If you've been out much to see live music in Ventura County, chances are you've seen Ruben perform. He's played with many of the great players in the area and that tradition continues with Action Down. Major influences in his drumming come from Led Zeppelin, Rush, CCR and many others. In addition to making the grooves move with his solid, 'in-the-pocket' style, Ruben will also be belting out some of your favorites from behind the skins... so when you hear some crooning and can't see any lips moving... turn your focus to the man in the back!
Action Down is the musical monster born out of decades of combined experience in clubs, concerts, touring and all-night studio sessions. The ensuing musical and personal relationships have served to form the nucleus of this remarkable band. Based in the seaside community of Ventura, California, all four of these guys have seen their share of smoky clubs, county fairs, concerts and festival stages in the local area and beyond. Now, after years of separate and sporadic, intermingled projects, the band was finally brought together in the spring of 2005 under the auspices of a record label that took great interest in each of the members individually and thought it would be interesting to see what they could do as a group. The boys hit it off and have been making their varied musical styles mesh ever since.
After putting together a few hundred favorite songs that are sure to arouse any audience, they have now turned their attention to original compositions and their first disc is forthcoming. With a combined track record of success in virtually all aspects of the music industry, Action Down is a must-see show and soon to be a must-have CD for your collection. These guys are always looking for a good time and are ready, willing and able to add their considerable talents to any corporate event, casino, club, company or private party, concert, festival, showcase or fair. In the words of the band: "By and large, the good people who come to see us seem to prefer a good party to a good night's sleep... and that suits us just fine."
Forget about what you think you know. You're gonna love it from the Action Down!
