I'm a blessed wife and mother of two who loves with all that I am.
I try not to take life for granted and I embrace the little things.
I'm content but not complacent.
I no longer make excuses for not giving life my all.
I pledge to recover after a failure or rejection.
I constantly check myself to be sure my motives and intentions are pure.
My aim is to live my life with integrity and live to please God.
More than anything... I want to STAY in His will!!
GOD KNOWS MY HEART!!!
PSALMS 139 (in my own words)
"I'm never misunderstood by You.
You know just who I am... for You.
Inspite of what others may think about me,
My AIM is to live my life with integrity and
Live to please You Lord.
Oh Lord,
Thou hast searched me and known me.
Oh Lord,
Thou hast seen me and heard me.
Thou understandest my thoughts afar off.
Thou knowest when I sit down and when I rise up.
There's nothing hid before You.
You know who I am through and through.
That's why I'm never misunderstood.
While others think they know me,
They stand, guessing they know me,
Assuming that they know me,
I'm comforted in knowing that YOU...
KNOW ME!!!"- Shayna

Born in Syracuse, N.Y. on October 5, 1983, Shayna Houston (now Hall) knew at an early age that God had a special call on her life. As a child she stood out as she sang at family gatherings. At age nine, Shayna sang her first solo, Yolanda Adam's "My Everything" in church at Calvary Christian Center. This was before moving to Georgia in 1993.
After joining Covenant Christian Ministries Church in Marietta, GA Where the Pastor and founder is Frederick T. Anderson Sr., Shayna became a student of the ministry's academy. During her years there, she enjoyed singing in chorus and leading solos in the youth choir in addition to general studies. After graduating from the academy in 2001, Shayna caught the interest of then Producer and church member Braxtus Anderson as he admired her singing ability. As a result, Shayna was introduced to Larry Slater, CEO of Slater Records, an independent gospel record label in Decatur, GA. After a meeting discussing a possible music career, Shayna decided that was exactly the path she wanted to take. In March of 2002, she withdrew herself from The Art Institute of Atlanta and signed a contract with Slater Records in hopes of a promising future as a gospel artist. While working with producers Braxtus Anderson, Anthony Hill and Stan Brewer to name a few, Shayna wrote and arranged her own songs upon recording them. "High Places" was her first single co-written and produced by Anthony Hill, "Set Free" produced by Braxtus Anderson followed shortly after.
While under contract, Shayna attended AGI Performing Arts School. Natarsha Garcia, co-founder and playwright/director, became her vocal coach and life mentor. With the motto "We Pull Out The Gift In You", AGI did just that as it helped to develop Shayna's voice and provided opportunities of a lifetime. Co-starring along side several others in Natarsha Garcia's famed play "I Saw It In My Dreams", Shayna helped to "bring it home" singing Donnie McClurkin's "Great Is Your Mercy" in the second to final scene. AGI's connections allowed Shayna to book several concerts at the Historical Ebenezer Baptist Church in downtown Atlanta, Ga. On one occassion, she had the pleasure of singing for the late great Corretta Scott King and Christine King Farris. This was for a taping of a Restore America special on HGTV. After being invited to sing for World Changer's Church International's "Praiseazzing", Shayna opened up for gospel sensation Canton Jones among others.
From opening up for brother and sister contemporary gospel duo Charles & Taylor and famed gospel saxophonist Angella Christie to singing at a graduation held at Spelman College, Shayna has humbly become a vessel fit for use in the kingdom of God.

This layout was handmade with TLC at My Fab Faith Go get one!

Influences: Well, singing is in my genes. I definitely got my voice from my mother, she's a soprano. I had an aunt and a few second cousins that sang too.

As a child, I remember my mom playing: Yolanda Adams, Helen Baylor, Tramaine Hawkins, Babbie Mason, Deniece Williams, CeCe Winans, DeLeon Richards, The Anointed Pace Sisters, Candy Staton, Alvin Slaughter and Sandy Patty. Just to name a few.

My household was strict so we weren't allowed to listen to secular music. When my aunts would come to get us, I remember listening to: Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson ( I always said he would be my downfall cause I loved him so much, to the point of tears! Yeah it was that deep!). I would watch videos of Mary J., Envogue, SWV, TLC, Lauren Hill, Tony Braxton, Brian McKnight, Baby Face, Eric Benet, Boys 2 Men, Tamia and whoever else was the craze at the time. I was always inspired by Whitney Houston, as we have the same last name. One summer at a barbeque, I remember picking up a stick and singing "The Greatest Love of All" with my Aunt Chan, those were the days!

In highschool, I couldn't get enough of: Virtue, Tarralyn Ramsey, Out of Eden, Mary Mary, Karen Clark-Sheard, Kim Burrell, Damita Haddon, Avalon, Point Of Grace, Crystal Lewis, Rachel Lampa, Jaci Velasquez, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Dawkins and Dawkins, Monica, Brandy, Aaliyah, Alicia Keys, Bleu Cantrell and Destiny's Child.

Today, I can't help but to be inspired by: The Clark Sisters, KiKi Kierra Sheard, JMoss, 21:03, PAJAM, Kim Burrell, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Beverly Crawford,Tye Tribbett and GA, Hezekiah Walker, Israel & Newbreed, Donnie McClurkin, Men of Standard, Smokie Norful, Kevin Vasser, Deitrick & Damita Haddon, Joan Rosario, Anointed, John P. Kee, Richard Smallwood, Byron Cage, Donald Lawrence, Onitsha, Christie L. Sibley, Natalie Grant, Martina McBride, Beyonce, Neo, DarkChild, Keysha Cole and others who are successful in the music business.

Most of all I am inspired by my husband Torrance Hall Sr. I am so blessed to have him in my life. God gave me more than I could even ask for or image. We met while we were pursuing our music careers, simply put. His keyboard accompanying my voice was like a match made in heaven! Chemistry was definitely there!

Since then, the Lord has anointed him tremendously. From writing and arranging songs to producing tracks, he does it all! It's like he has a computer for a brain! He is the mastermind behind B.O.C. Family, his anticipated label in addition to T.K. Productions. He is skilled as an organist, pianist and drummer. Yes without a doubt, Torrance Hall is a musican and producer on his way and I'm glad to join him for the journey!

No seriously, I've been compared to Monica. I'm Pretty versatile. I have a soft, contemporary pop sound mixed with soul.
