UNHOLY DESIGN RECORDS is a small record label, founded in 2007 for the purpose of releasing music by ETHERNAL and SPEIRLING. UNHOLY DESIGN is interested in original exciting music exclusively, and this itself explains the necessity of its inception; ETHERNAL and SPEIRLING are interested in labels that seek original, exciting music exclusively. Thus the mutual reliance is born. These projects adhere in no way to the rules and limits of the extreme music and popular black metal world. These two bands, for the unveiling of their painstaking work in a gradual manner to those willing to seek it, required a label who would not only put full faith into their vision, but would allow them the chance to bypass the pitfalls, lack of integrity, artistic nothingness and general stupidity prevalent in much of the extreme metal scene.
UNHOLY DESIGN's ideology lies expressed quite plainly within its name. We embrace all things which can be said by man to embody unholiness, but in fact represent the wisdom increasingly discarded and forgotten by the modern world. Our vision of black metal is as an artform firmly out of sync with society, but an artform more rich, tangible, original and encompassing than any other. We look to the atmosphere and sincere ferocity within black metal when evaluating its importance. We ask whether it is wisdom made by the world to appear unholy, or if it is mindless rubbish made by the artist to appear unholy. If it is the latter, we have no interest whatsoever.
Beyond the forthcoming releases by ETHERNAL and SPEIRLING, we presume nothing, but to allow UNHOLY DESIGN to expand in any unholy direction it wishes to. This means that we do not intend to limit the music we work with to black metal, though black metal will inevitably be our focus.
