About Me

Ladies & gents, boys & girls......its 2008, and just when you thought it was safe to go down to your local acoustic night the mighty (?!) Evangeline returned. Having first set up this page for the shameless nostalgia of hearing our old tunes again, events have conspired to make us a musical reality again. Rehearsals are under way, new material is being written to co-exist with the old, and the boys are on the way back.....THE LATEST MOST BREAKINGEST NEWS....June 7th, Evangeline release first new material in 12 years...the 'Easy Now EP'. 'Easy Now' the download single is available already to preorder at indiestore, and the 4 song EP will be available through soundclick from 7/6/08. The 4 song CD EP will be available from gigs, through www.evangelinemusic.com, and through retailers to be announced soon. Exciting times are around the corner..... Watch this (my)space!!!To purchase the 'Easy Now EP' on CD for just £3 including p&p, please click on the link below....Prefer to download ? Download EASY NOW via the link below...please!For those who don't know........Evangeline was a duo formed in deepest Leicester, by songwriter Ian Babington & guitarist Pete Raj in December 1995, and through '96 and '97 we became a regular feature on the Leicester scene. We played the city's Abbey Park Festival (the slot before local legends Diesel Park West), famous folk cellar Bunjies in Soho, the legendary Mitre in Stourbridge, and lots of Leicester venues that have all fallen prey to the planners and yuppies (do we still call them yuppies?!) since....especially The Windsor Suite, the Royal Mail, and The Magazine. The name is a tribute to the mighty Mr Ian McNabb - stuck for a name before our first gig, and with our own Ian being a big Icicles fan, we chose one of their song titles at random. We hope you will enjoy the tunes. For the time being we're just putting a few nostalgic tunes here for the enjoyment of those who care to take the time to listen. Please feel free to download them. Going forward, there's new stuff coming that we're really excited about, and you'll no doubt hear it here first. Meanwhile, Ian also continues to write, record and perform as a solo artist, and Pete's ex-band The Mile are also out on the road - why not check them both out.THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST, THANKS FOR LISTENING AND (IF YOU'RE SO INCLINED) THANKS FOR BEING OUR FRIEND - It surprises us two as much as anyone that the journey is starting again, but we hope you'll come along for the ride - cheers everyone! All the bestIan & Pete(We'd like to say a very special thanks to Simon Squire, who did all the recordings way back in the 90s- cheers sir!)
