My Interests

MUSIC, mother nature, FOOTBALL, talking shit, introspection, makeup, MPR, all things local, grammar, travel, art in its many forms, yoga, vocabulary, familia, rocking out by myself in my car, witty humour, animals, politics, aspiring to become a guitar virtuoso, activism, cultures, cooking, environmentalism, self-sufficiency, WRITING, making myself and the world better, HISTORY and many other social sciences (Ben Harper once wrote, "If you don't know your history, the truth shall remain a mystery"), eastern philosophies, bitching about lowest common denominator music and television ... nothing makes me happier than being with those I care about or seeing a good band live. . . .

I'd like to meet:

I like speaking with people from all walks of life. I just don't care for fakeness and drama.

Music:

At times it makes life even more beautiful.

Some essentials would include:

*A Perfect Circle

*Alice in Chains

*Atmosphere

*the Beastie Boys

*Brother Ali

* The Doors

*Mark Farina

*Guns N' Roses

*BEN HARPER

*Elton John

*Led Zeppelin

*Barrington Levy

*Ludacris

*Bob and Damian Marley

*Metallica (mainly the old school stuff)

*Willie Nelson

*Pearl Jam

*Rage Against the Machine mothaf**ka (Please reunite in my lifetime)

*Kenny Rogers

*The Rolling Stones

* SLIGHTLY STOOPID

* SUBLIME
(and most that hail from Skunk lineage; R.I.P. Bradley)

*SYSTEM OF A DOWN

*Weezer

. . . .a vast catalog of artists sans the crappy stuff.

Movies:

Pulp Fiction (a lot of Quentin films; I think he is a genius at what he does), Full Metal Jacket, Napoleon Dynamite, the Doors, Almost Famous, The Good Shepherd, Dazed and Confused, Scarface (how cliche, but it is true), Goodfellas, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, SALVADOR, A Few Good Men, Trainspotting, Syriana ... many more.

Television:

Alas, I do not have cable. That's probably a good thing, but I do like these shows -- Seinfeld, the Daily Show, What Not to Wear (and several other makeover shows), 60 Minutes, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, THE BOONDOCKS, Meet the Press, Drawn Together, the Real World, many shows on the Discovery Channel. . . .

Books:

I will have a library one day.

Culture Jam; The Things They Carried; Little Women; Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass; An American Prayer; My War Gone By, I Miss it So; Angela's Ashes; American Heretics: Rebel Voices in Music; numerous titles by Hunter S. Thompson. . . .

Heroes:

My mother and father, equally, and all of the revolutionaries who have fought the good fight.

Oh yeah, and Andy Rooney, too.

Humility

So, I just got done playing on MySpace for a bit and ended up looking at some stranger's profiles (hey, I am hungover) and it reminded me of how sickeningly stupid people can be.  I obviously kn...

Unimpressed

It always perturbs me when people are extremely arrogant.  I seriously think that arrogance is one of the most unattractive characteristics a person can have.  Sure, it's good to have s...

Adult contemporary is driving me mad.

I walked around perusing the many aisles of Joanne Fabrics for a couple hours the other day.  I believe I have heard enough Goo Goo Dolls, Amy Grant and Celine Dion to last a lifetime.  The ...
