Living life to half capacity. Living it to its fullest is just too exhausting.
Someone who can resist the temptation to kick sand in my face if I ever decide that taking long walks on the beach hand in hand would kind of be romantic.
The list always changes. Unfortunately, my penchant for updating you on those interests happens not as often.
As I've been told, I tend to have a pretentious interest in the snooty arthouse flick. I didn't make you watch it, did I?Five Favorites, in no particular order....Dogfight - Featuring Lily Taylor and the late River Pheonix. Barely appreciated back then, probably unheard of now.Lover's of the Arctic Circle - Palindromes and romance in another language. Star crossed romance at it's best.Amelie - I still have to resist the urge to run my hands throught the dried pinto beans at Fiesta.Farewell My Concubine - Because even though my dad covered my eyes through most of the scenes he thought were too tawdry for me to watch, this movie was his way of introducing me to foriegn film. One of many things I thank him for teaching me to appreciate. I still hate his new age world music, though.Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt - I think it's his finest piece of work. There isn't a Hitchcock movie that I haven't seen and fallen in love with, but this one has to be my all-time favorite.I'd suggest any of these in a heartbeat. Even if it was irregular.
At the moment, I'm completely consumed by my Blockbuster queue. Unfortunately, this hasn't stopped me from making my monthly offering to the Church of Time Warner's communion basket.
My literary interests are as absurd as by cinematic endeavors. If you really must know, though, I've really enjoyed Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife, Zadie Smith's White Teeth and muddling on through her tome On Beauty. I don't care how trendy he is, but David Sedaris always picks me up out of a bad mood. Jhumpa Lahiri won a Pulitzer Prize for Interpreter of Maladies and rightfully so. Jose Saramago has a way with altering your reality with every single book he's written. And Kurt Vonnegut (especially Cat's Cradle although Breakfast of Champion provides interesting doodles for those of you who insist on illustration) and Roahl Dahl (come on now, The Twits...The BFG...Charlie and the Chocolate factory....and quite a few adult oriented delicacies...he's the author you always read but never really knew his name) are my favorite authors. Read one. Read them all. I guarantee you won't be dissappointed.
Give me a better job and this could be you.
