VULCANOLOGY MUSIC and ART FESTIVAL happened from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 of July 2006 in the spectacular setting of Catania beach, between the sea and the towering volcano of Mount Etna.
Sounds has ranged from the world music of Peppe Barra with Lino Cannavaccluolo to the drum'n'bass of Amon Tobin and the afro jazz of Randy Weston Trio and the soul funk of Roy Ayers.
Also appearing on the bill were folk-jazz legend Terry Callier, Kid Koala, The Next One of early Rock Steady Crew with the break dance crew Soul Brothers, Gak Sato, Astronaughty Quartet.
Stage also guested Kid Loco Live with Dj Seep and Mau, Jazzy B Soul II Soul Sound System + Live Guests, Heinz Tronigger of Madrid De Los Austrias, Painè, Massimo Napoli, Kikko Solaris, Rocco ‘Mad On Jazz’ Pandiani, Luca Dondoni and Carl Craig.
As well as Music in the Festival venue, there was also a 'surprise' Art Exhibition curated by Sandra Virlinzi, of Wood-Deck Chairs’ Canvas transformed into paintings.
The artists involved are Natalie Du Pasquier, Fulvia Mendini, Sandra Virlinzi, Adalberto Abbate, Dario Arcidiacono, Erika.Aikre, Andrea Buglisi, Massimo Caccia, Giordano Curreri, Andrea Di Marco, Fulvio Di Piazza, Massimo Giacon, Nino Mustica, Enzo Rovella, Antonio Sorrentino and Serginho Cartoons Inc.
GGT and VjKlat have provided inspired stage visuals from sunset to dawn while Nappy G. and Luca Dondoni have hosted the Festival.
The Festival has highlighted the beauty of the Ionian coastline, attracting quality Music and Art lovers who have had the chance to travel to this charming location.
