Robert Jürjendal (1966) studied classical guitar and composition at Tallinn G.Ots Music School, Estonia. His composition teacher was Anti Marguste - a wellknown Estonian elder generation composer.
Robert Jürjendal's first compositions were mostly improvised instrumental pieces, played by the group PAJUKE and recorded in the late 80's at Estonian Radio Studio. Later he joined with rock group Tõnis Mägi & 777 both as a guitarist and songwriter.
Robert Jürjendal 's main musical groups since 1993 are: Weekend Guitar Trio (www.wgt.nu) and Fragile. Currently he is also playing/recording with Estonian blues /rock/contemporary guitarist -singer Riho Sibul, singer Kärt Johanson, American musician/philosopher David Rothenberg, Finnish electronic musician Petri Kuljuntausta, Markus Reuter and many others.
From the spring 2007 Robert plays duo with Aleksei Saks (trumpet, corno caccia)) in project called UMA.
Beside the solo and guitar ensemble repertoire, R.J. has written music for male and chamber choirs, cembalo duo, string quartet a.s.o.
R.J. has written music for several documentary films, theatre and art exhibitions.
As a guitarist, songwriter , composer or producer he has made over 25 CD-s.
At the present time R.J teaches guitar at Tartu University Viljandi Cultural Academy and works as a freelander composer.
