SOVETSKOE PORNO, aka Artemy Kivovich Troitsky (born June 16, 1955) is a journalist (www.novgaz.ru , www.rollingstone.ru etc), writer (books include “Back In The USSR: The True Story of Rock In Russiaâ€; "Tusovka: Whatever Happened To The Soviet Underground Cultureâ€; “Ya Vvedu Vas V Mir Popâ€; to be published in February/March: “Rattling Skeletons In The Closet: Selected Works 1974 – 1991â€, vol. 1 & 2); radio DJ (www.fwd.soyuz.ru); political hooligan (www.diversant-daily.ru); concert promoter (www.caviarlounge.com); university teacher; record label’s director (Zakat, Voskhod, Zenit and Priboy – all in cooperation with a local major, Soyuz) and outsider art collector. He’s multiply divorced, has several children, and lives in a bachelor pad overlooking Sparrow (formerly Lenin) Hills in Moscow, sharing flat with a Scottish terrier named Churchill.
AKTroitsky’s pop career (?) has started in 1997 with the recording of Alla Pugacheva’s obscure song “Korolevaâ€, produced at home by Russia’s foremost electronic musician Roman Belavkin, aka Solar X. This no-fi weirdtronica track, featuring AKT’s lead vocal, has been released on Alla Pugacheva’s tribute album (Soyuz, 1997) and Solar X’s UK debut long-player “Little Pretty Automatic†(Worm Interface, 2000).
AKT’s second song, this time self-penned, has been produced by Oleg Nesterov at Pravda Street studio, and is included in soundtrack of “Down House†movie ( a trash/psychedelic version of Dostoyevsky’s “Idiotâ€; big cult hit in Russia), where Troitsky also acted. The song is called “Snowflakes from Her Hair†(Snegiri Records, 2001). Also this has been the first time AKT has used the nom-de-plume, SOVETSKOE PORNO.
The third recording has been made in 2002 under the guidance of Andrey Samsonov (arguably Russia’s best electronic/alternative sound producer and Mute Records recording artist) at Lenfilm studios in St. Petersburg. It was cover version of “Ya Podaril Tebe Vesnuâ€, written by late Andrey `Diusha` Romanov, the flutist and founding member of `Aquarium`. The song has been released on “Moy Droog – Muzikantâ€(“My Friend the Musicianâ€) – Andrey Romanov’s tribute album (Manchester Files, 2003).
Finally, “Agent 008†– the song that inspired AK Troitsky to start his blog at myspace.com. The song was written for New Year charity action, dedicated to the children of tragic Beslan school. The lyrics, with some nice illustrations, were published in the book called “Zdravstvuy, Dedushka Moroz!†(“Hello, Father Frost!†(IQ Marketing, 2007))– but since the initial idea was to write a song, the recorded version followed shortly. It has been made in 5-7 minutes on December 25th, 2007 to a metronome beat at home of Misha Vivisector – the legendary Moscow psychedelic surfer and underground producer (Polly Esther, Pahom, The Vivisectors, Electric Gurus etc). Enjoy!
