Music:

Dan's Bio

Dan grew up around music. His grandfather sang barbershop, his grandmother was the church's organist for years, his dad was guitarist and lead singer for a local cover band, and a second cousin toured with stadium rock bands as a sideman. It seemed destined that both Dan and his sister would grow up and make positive contributions to the musical field.

Dan began in 5th grade public school band in Buchanan, MI. As the middle school years went by, the understanding and relation of music became second nature. Dan discovered that there was more to music than the techniques, stickings, and notes than what was provided in the music. It wasn't until Dan became a musical leader in the High School band in marching, concert, and jazz/pep bands that there was a special gift ready to be utilized.

Through high school and college, Dan performed with several student groups, upstart bands (Dead End Roads, Static, Crosstown Mojo,) faculty - lead ensembles, marching bands (Buchanan, Mt. Pleasant, CMU Marching Chips,) The Robert Hohner Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Lab I, and Principal Percussionist at CMU. All of these experiences culminated with two seasons of basketball band, and there, he found his true calling: Stadium Rock and Roll. As blasphemous as it may sound, rocking out in front of thousands of people gave Dan the most thrills and chills.

While in his last year of college, Dan met Paul from a random conversation and phone call that lead to an ad-lib jam session with Paul and his roommate at the time. The chemistry was instant. After several months of trying to get a cover band started, Dan lost touch with Paul. After another random call in the spring semester, Dan and Paul began working on three songs that have become Verses standards: A Generation's Complaint, Tomorrow Asks, and Out of Here.

Dan is a consumate perfectionist in both performing and marketing, and is meticulous in his approach to performing music. Verses provides the ultimate medium to test and task the abilities of a modern drummer/arranger, and with this challenge, Dan finds a comfortable medium for his artistic explorations.
