So they came quickly out of the town, which in this direction merged into fields almost without transition. A small quarry, dreary and deserted, was situated near an urban-looking house. Here the Bobby Watson came to a stop, perhaps because this place had been their goal from the beginning, perhaps because they were too exhausted to run any further. They now released Maxa, who waited on the rocks. They took their top hats off and used their handkerchiefs to wipe the sweat off their brows as they looked round the quarry. After an exchange of some courtesies with regard to wich of them should carry out the next part of their task - the Bobby Watson seemed to have been given their commission without specific individual assignements - one of them went to Maxa and took off her jacket and waistcoast and finally her dress. Maxa shivered involuntarily, wich made the gentleman give her a gentle reassuring kiss on the back. The moonlight covered everything with the natural serenity possessed by no other light...
