About Me

I am a single mother of two sons. One is 18, the other is 26 years old. My oldest is married to a very wonderful woman. I am a firefighter, and have been for a long time. I like my job very much. I love the outdoors..especially the water. When I am on the water, time stands still, problems fade and I can breath!!! I like to fish and go to the beach. I love music...all kinds, but especially rock. New rock, old rock it doesn't matter. If it sounds good to me, then I like it. I like to read. I love good conversation. I need to laugh, and usually surround myself with people who have a good sense of humor. I am concerned about the environment and the state of the world. I want us to leave this earth as pristine as possible so my childrens, childrens, children can have a place to live. I have more freedom now since my children are growing up/grown up...so its now time for me to do what I want to do. It's been a long time.

My Interests

I am interested in fishing. I have a kayak that is perfect for fishing and cruising the flats. Problem is, I don't seem to have enough time to get out much anymore. That has to change. I am also interested in working out, I do so regularly. I love music, and the performing arts. I like to garden and work in the yard. I also like to do mosaic work. I read, and love to spend time with my friends. The guys I work with are the best and so much fun..its all about fun! I also like to spend time on the computer.

Music:

I like a lot of the new music. I like Muse, The Mars Volta, Garbage, The Killers, Radiohead, Jet etc. I like the 90's music..Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden (thus I really like Audioslave), Rage, NIN, STP, Collective Soul and other groups of that era. My generation, late 60's and 70's music. The Beatles, Bob Marley, The Stones, The Who..etc....I love Led Zeppelin, they are my favorite band of all times. I do also like classical music, bluegrass, and some jazz. I had mentioned in my introduction to myself...if it sounds good to me, then I like it, no matter what type of music it is. Music takes you back in time....music is like a certain smell...it takes you home. Music calms you when you are upset...music can make you sad, music can make you happy. I can't imagine ever exsisting without music. Because of my love of music, my sons are very musical. They both play guitar, and try to write songs. My older son was in a band called "Funny Looking Kid". He is now into Christian Rock. My two nephews are also very musically talented, if not gifted. One is a drummer, and the other one writes songs and plays guitar. Why oh why did this talent in the gene pool skip me!! Last year I got satelite radio..what a great thing that is. I will never be too old...as the songs says..."you are never too old to rock and roll"...amen to that!!

Movies:

To Kill a Mockingbird, West Side Story, Sound of Music, Body and Souls, The Killing Fields, The Birds, The Notebook, The Pelican Brief, Philadelphia, My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, Pay it Forward, The Mask, Steel Magnolias, To Sir With Love, Because of Winn Dixie. Update- Million Dollar Baby, Cinderella Man, Crash (outstanding movie), The Constant Gardner, The Girl in the Cafe, The Sea Inside ( these independent and foreign films have caught my attention these past few years. Films like these have more freedom to push the envelope than the mainstream ones. My first independent film I recall loving was "The Crying Game". I have not stopped searching for those great movies. Note: subtitles are not good if it is a sad movie, because you can't read through the tears :) )

Television:

I watch 5 minutes here, and 5 minutes there. I watch, or try to watch a few shows when I remember they are on. I like The Daily Show, Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy, and Boston Legal. There are some quality channels...The Sundance Channel, Current, and some news channels specials. Other than that, I prefer to read, or play on the computer when I have down time.

Books:

The Exorsist, The Odessy, Dantes Infirno, We were the Mulvaneys, Stolen Lives, Profiles in Courage, The DaVinci Code, and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Actually tooooo many to list.

A new Hip
