The band was formed in late 2004/early 2005 after originally being called Mare,
but after soon finding out about another band with the same name decided they needed a different name. And so Scythe was chosen. The band was originally a five piece with original drummer George Carballo, brother of guitarist Dan, and original bassist and longtime friend Jaime Rios. Brought together by the same love for heavy metal after listening to Metallica's Kill Em' All, everyone in the band started broadening their musical catalog showing each other bands they found in the same musical arena. Mostly influenced by NWOBHM and thrash metal of the 80's and many other recent thrash bands like Fueled By Fire, Bonded By Blood, Merciless Death and so many other bands that they've grown to love, Scythe is trying to recapture what it meant to be and play heavy metal.
