Carrie's Choice

About Me

The fact that just under 1/3 of all girls in the United States will get pregnant in their teenage years is a sobering thought. Obviously, teen pregnancy is a problem in the United States. And the following statistics back that up:
- Every year around 750,000 teenagers will get pregnant.
- Depending on the state, teenage birth rates are incredibly different. Nevada has the highest rate: 113 per 1000 and North Dakota the lowest 42 per 1000.
- Unmarried teenagers having children account for 24 percent of all unmarried expectant mothers.
- More than 2/3 of all teenagers who have a baby will not graduate from high school.
"Carrie's Choice" - a FilmMcQueen Production ( FILMMCQUEEN WEBSITE ) - is a23 minute short film about a young girl who becomes unexpectedly pregnant and must decide what to do. The film's intent is to present a set of circumstances in a non-judgmental and entertaining way, that allows for a discussion of all the choices facing teens and young adults, from the choice to have sex or not, to use or not use condoms, and in the face of an unwanted pregnancy - the options available.
To purchase a copy please click this link to INTERMEDIA INC. , a producer, publisher, and distributor of quality educational training programs including videotapes and CD-ROM. You can request a VHS pre-screener before purchasing at no cost. There are several ways we'd like to see this film used.
Our hope if that clinics will use the film to educated and engender dialogue with the youth in their community.
We have also developed a "Townhall Program" guide to accompany the film. The goal of the program is to screen the film for a college audiences (through women's campus organizations and/or women's study classes), then follow the screening with a panel discussion on the topics of teen pregnancy prevention AND/OR the choices facing an unwanted pregnancy. The panel would be comprised of local experts culled from clinics, medical organizations, women's organizations, religious organizations, etc. and would use scenes from the film to guide a discussion on the chosen topic(s).
And, as well, we'd like to encourage Universities to use the film (and Townhall Program is applicable) as part of their orientation program for first year students.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY UPLOAD, WHILE THE TRAILER IS RECOMPRESSED IN 16:9 FORMAT...PLEASE EXCUSE SCRUNCHING AND QUALITY.
