Nash born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California, grew
up listening to Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, and other singer-song writers.
He began writing poems and short stories at the age of 10, which
sharpened his lyrical abilities even at such an early age. It wasn't
until junior high that Nash found his true calling. Now fueled and
influenced by Hip Hop and the likes of Dr. Dre, Warren G, Domino, A
Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul, Nash realized he had a talent for
rapping. But it was not fully tapped into until later in his life.
Things at home were not easy, so after completing high school early,
Nash moved to Tahoe, NV, were he bought his first drum machine and
sampler. While in Tahoe, Nash started to really get into the
underground hip-hop scene. Listening to MC's like Aceyalone,
Blackalicious, Black Star, and anyone else he could get his hands on.
This is when Nash really began to focus on all the techniques, and as
he puts it, " the dynamics of a real Lyricist."
After living in Tahoe for a while, Nash moved back to his hometown,
Thousand Oaks, and started rapping with a small click called Fantastic
Planet. This is where Nash says he began to learn about stage
presence, and how intensity is what moves the crowd. Fantastic Planet
did shows all over California, Northern and Southern, building a small
reputation for themselves before separating.
Fortunately, Nash now had the skills to land a gig as the front man of
an 8-piece hip-hop band called the Flynn. With the Flynn, Nash
performed with the Kotton Mouth Kings. They kept busy with gigs at the
Ventura Theatre, The Whiskey, The Soho, and a list of small bars that
would pay them.
The Flynn eventually broke up for a list of different reasons (as most
bands do), so Nash started working exclusively with Kitchen Work
Productions. He quickly became the label's golden child and top
priority artist. The label's owner/ producer, Jeremy Hanlon, has quite
the resume himself – such as working on tour with the Wu Tang Clan,
Hot Wire, and other artists currently on his label's roster. Jeremy
said, "I saw something special in Nash's hunger to be on top. Just
the level he would take it to, to get there, you know. I knew he was
really dedicated to this."
Now in the final stages of releasing his first solo album, "Broken
Home," which will be in stores Feb 3rd 2007, Nash has begun working on
his acoustic album. He has also started another band. He calls this
one "Midnite Theory." Nash and Midnite theory are currently electrifying crowds
throughout Southern California.
