About Me

This is a newish page for my songs - many of which have been kept on the back burner for quite a few years now! There's also some from 2008 and more are on the way! I have generally been known more for my work as a composer, producer and instrumentalist (playing acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, dobro, bass and harmonica). After many years of working as a sideman, I put some of my instrumental tracks together on an album in 1999 and started the "Miles To Go" band, which took me on a journey that is still continuing nearly 10 years later. If you want to read about all that stuff you can go to the Miles To Go band page - (see my Top Friends).

While all this was going on I kept writing songs and collaborating as co-writer and producer for singer-songwriters such as Lynn Hazelton, Peter Brandy and Bernard Carney. I also wrote the title song to the Australian feature "Mad Bomber in Love" and was nominated for the WAM Song of the year awards 3 times (with an award in the folk category in 1993).
Since 2005 ive worked on a number of projects involving songwriting - including the Central Desert community of Jameson (Mantamaru) and a continuing series of workshops in Western Australia's prisons. This and writing for a feature film in pre-production (Sex Sells) has helped to spark a revival of my own writing and I'll be putting the songs up on this page as i record them over the course of 2009. Hopefully the album will come together by the end of 2009.

Band Members: At the moment its just me - but over the course of 2008, i plan to record these songs with some of my favourite players. In January I recorded bass and drums on 3 tracks with my ideal rhythm section of Ben Franz and Dave Macdonald. The cello is from the wonderful Jennifer Tingley. If my other albums are anything to go by, many more players will no doubt appear during the course of the year...
