To this list of luminaries add the name DC… an accomplished musician whose endless drive and heart for music will inevitably prove he has a presence and power that’s so electric, he sets the stage on fire. Every once in a while, an artist arrives who will be star quality.Equipped with a voice that has been compared to the vocal stylings of Javier, Donny Hathaway and Usher and songwriting that combines beautiful melodies with soul-searching lyrics, DC has been searching for the truth in music. He finds his inspiration through all of his friends, family, fans, his heritage and especially his birth mother.DC was born in Recife, Brazil as "Ricardo Corriea De Lima." DC’s mother gave birth to him when she was 14 yrs old. Due to being fatherless at birth and the unstable living conditions with the lack of her family support DC and his mother were left homeless for months, sleeping in out of cars and anbandoned buildings. DC’s mother was faced with the tormenting decision to give up her only child and to put him in the care of an orphanage with the prayers and hopes of a better life. At the age of 5, DC’s mothers prayers were answered; he was adopted into a loving and caring family that resided in Washington, DC which he was given the name David Ricardo Lee Chaney. DC’s new family raised him with morals and values that his mother would be proud of. The unknown whereabouts of his birthmother continue to remind him of the life and opportunity he has been given to do what he was born to do.“My voice has been touched by an angel… so beautiful, so powerful. I feel that every time I sing, I’m singing to my lost angel so she can hear me. I pray that one day my birth angel and I can reunite.”Soon after finding his voice as a teen, DC took every opportunity he could to display his talent. Throughout high school he sang the “National Anthem” at a variety of nationally televised sporting events and won over several diverse audiences. DC is not only a talented tenor singer with a 4-octave range; he is a songwriter, dancer and also a vocal arranger. With all these talents DC has had the opportunity to open for several major artists in less than a year.The past few months DC has been back in the studio working on several new tracks, that have received major radio play. DC’s single, No More Crying, was herald as the 1 song for 3 weeks in Germany, February 2005. DC owes much of his success to his FANS! DC has an incredible relationship with his fans unlike any other artist, but like his music DC’s personality has a great range of colors, textures and contradictions. DC may be star bound, but he remains a true friend to all those that bless him with kindness and still maintains his humble and approachable qualities. On average his solo stage show lasts approx. 30 minutes and lasts up to one hour with special guests and collaborators.
