About Me

Fredrik Sixten is currently one of Sweden's most published composers, especially choral, organ and chamber music. His newly performed Requiem has been a great success and will, in 2009, be introduced abroad, with an english translation, in New York (17/10) and Aberdeen, Scotland (24/5). His main publisher is Gehrmans, Further information can be found at: http://www.gehrmans.se/english. His other major opus is the first Swedish passion ever written, "A Swedish St Mark Passion". It is based on Swedish folk tunes but also has a lot of other influences. It has been published and are also released on CD by the major label of classical music in Sweden: Caprice. The 15/4 2009 it will have the first public performance abroad: Glasgow Cathedral. Fredrik Sixten was born in 1962 and Since 2001, he has been the Cathedral organist of Harnosand's Cathedral in the north of Sweden. He was Educated at the Royal Highschool of Music in Stockholm. He studies composition with professor Sven-David Sandström, one of Swedens most famous composers. He has been an established composer since the early 90..s, published at all major publishing houses in Sweden. His music is performed on both the national TV and national Radio. Internationally, his music has been performed all around Europe, as well as in Asia and America. He is represented in the official Swedish hymnbook, and he has also been engaged in numerous projects concerning the development of new Swedish churchmusic.
