“You don’t hear much from Gordon Lightfoot these days, Dan Fogelberg, Jim Croce and John Denver are no longer with us, but Randi Perkins is alive and well and is bringing the singer-songwriter spirit back to the heart of Americaâ€......John Denver once called Randi a "very gifted poetic songwriter", John was a close personal friend of Randi's first producer, Mike Crowley......Randi grew up on a farm near a small town called Scranton in Southwestern North Dakota and began writing songs when he was 17. At Dickinson State University in Dickinson, North Dakota where he majored in music and business, he participated in nationally acclaimed music groups including jazz band, choir and symphonic band......Randi was the songwriter and performer in the 1970’s influential rock band, Young Imagination, who captured the attention of many folks in the great plains states. Randi’s earlier accomplishments include having his song “Dakota, I’ve Not Forgotten†chosen to represent North Dakota’s centennial celebration in 1989 which earned him numerous radio and TV interviews and concert appearances. He performed on CBS TV with Roy Clark and Bobby Vee in July of that year. He was a male vocalist winner in a country music jamboree, and was a winner in the Country Showdown contest in 1996 in a band with his nieces. Randi also has been a winner in numerous song contests. He is looking forward to the upcoming release of his new CD called "Life Is Good" in September 2008 and is extremely proud of his prior releases, “The Songwriterâ€, and "Dakota Dream".......Randi is also a co-author of article on music business in Mix Magazine, and co-authored a text used in the music business program at University of Colorado / Denver and is a contributing author on Navigating The Music Business by Dick Weissman and Frank Jermance published by Hal Leonard Publishing......In artist development, Randi has been instrumental in the careers of Kelly Aspen, Kat Perkins, and Aubrey Collins who was the lead singer for the country band, Trick Pony for most of 2007.
