The Circle was formed in the rainy Spring of 2005. In a result of recovering from the Winter blues and prepareing for the long Summer's depression...
Witchlord created the project to express many hidden desires, fantasies and ideas along side his own visions of Truth, Life and Human decay. In the Early years Witchlord expressed his admiration and connection with Satan and the left hand path. However, as the years went by lyrical content and ideas expanded. Abstract horror and unexplained mysteries had always been of intrest, thus, these catagories were included as well as Witchlord's experimentation in various degrees of Occultism and Mysticism. Yet above all of this Depression is a reoccuring theme in his music.
Circle of Ghosts' initial Demos were pure Black Ambient creations. Some Drone and Field Recording influeneces were also apparent. Once 'Cemetery Silence' was released, Witchlord continued into the realm of desolate Black Metal contrasted with the same dark Ambient atmospheres. The first three EPs were all self released in extremely limited quanities. However, the two EPs 'The Art of Decay' and 'Grief' were dissected and the greater hymns of these releases were extracted and compiled into a compilation full length entitled 'Collecting Memories' and made available to the masses. The first EP 'Nex Per Cavum' was also resurrected and released as a Full length in 2009.
When you listen to Circle of Ghosts and fully understand as well as feel its energy, it will take you deep into you concience, as if like a Trance... I will take you to vast desolate fields, empty Highways...I will bring you to the Cemeteries, and let you walk amongst the tombs...I will take you down to rock bottom, only to bring you back and show you that depression is really quite beautiful...when it is all you have... ...Only Death is real...
