Why Am I Jealous Of Your Dog?

About Me

Formed in 2004 through a mutual love of fast melodic music and a hatred for indie pish, Firepoint 17 have grown from being a 2 guitar Green Day tribute to a 4 piece pop punk outfit determind to make an impact on the local scene. Unlike the so called pop punk bands of today, who care more about their hair than their music, the band has much more in common with bands from the 90s such as blink-182 and also draws influences from 80s punk rock bands such as Screeching Weasel. The guys share the same mission - to put the punk back in pop punk. After only 2 gigs in the Glasgow area, the band landed a support slot with major label noisemakers Engerica and were invited back for a seccond support slot but the tour was unfortunately cancelled. Less than a month later, the band found themselves at Glasgow's ABC 2 playing to a packed crowd. After many successful gigs in Glasgow, the band recorded their first demo which included the popular agnst ridden, anti-school track "Hell Hole High" and the bands very first song "Another Teenage Anthem". The first track "These Days" pointed towards the new direction the band was taking, incorporating a more melodic sound. Jim Gellatly of XFM Scotland was impressed by the demo and played the track "Questionable Balls" on his show. After playing more gigs, the band returned to the studio in April 2007 to record the 4 track EP "Jealous of Your Dog". The EP contains songs which any teenager could relate to with the reccuring theme of unrequited love and the other troubles faced in high school. Recorded over 2 days, the band once again develop their sound by introducing keyboard parts and more backing vocals. The band plan to release the EP in the near future and soon hope to travel around the UK to extend their fan base.
