Myspace BackgroundsI'm a hippie at heart, a transplant granola, environmental/humanitarian internet activist, Blues Sista, Luscious Blue, Laura Lou, BF, LK, Elk, Lor, Eh?!, Cosmic Cali Cat, Chaparita. I am finally back in my hometown of Sacramento, California after seventeen years. I lived in So. Cal. for ten, then Miami as well as New York over the past seven years. I've decided to make California my "homebase" once again as this is where my family is and family, as well as friends are number one to me!"Jenny, I don't know if Mama was right or if, if it's Lieutenant Dan. I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floatin' around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe its both. Maybe both is happening at the same time." - Tom Hanks, Forest Gump."There is no birth,
Nor is there death;
There is no beginning,
Nor is there any ending;
Nothing is identical with itself;
Nor is there any diversification;
Nothing comes into existence;
NOR DOES ANYTHING GO OUT OF EXISTENCE." (May 6, 2007)
-Nagarjuna's Doctrine of Eight No's.And-And life goes on, doesn't it,
Gillian? Is that right? Is that right?
- Yes.
- It does? It does? Forever and ever?
- No, not forever.
- No-No-No, never forever.
Not quite. Not quite.
But I mean, the point is, life's
not all lamb loin chops, is it?
But I mean, it goes on, and-and you just
have to keep on going too, don't you?
- I mean, you can't give up, can you?
- Certainly not.
Every time that blooming Saturn comes
along and gives us a bit of a jolt.
Oh, it's the stars,
Gillian.
- Everything has its season.
- Oh, it's a mystery. It's a mystery.
- There's always a reason.
- Oh, we just need to seize
the reason for the season." - Shine, 1996.
"David: Would you marry me? Gillian: Well, it wouldn't be very practical, David. David: Practical? No, of course not. Of course not. But then neither am I, Gillian. Neither am I. I'm not very practical at all. Sylvia: You'll miss the plane! Gillian: It's sweet of you, David. I don't know what to say. David: The stars, Gillian darling! Ask the stars!" - Shine, 1996."I am looking for someone who can take as much as I give, give back as much as I need and still have the will to live. I am intense, I am in need, I am in pain, I am in love." - Indigo Girls.Some of my many wonderful family and friends!My last significant international trip was to Buenos Aires, Argentina.I was bitten at a very young age by the travel bug thanks to my parents and especially my mom's adventurous spirit and influences, which she instilled in me. I feel blessed for ALL the incredible experiences, places and faces I have met thus far.Over the course of the three years I was with JetBlue, my focus was primarily to get to know my own country a bit better. I was able to do just that. I am currently on hiatus, you could say, from my love of being a "lifeguard in the sky." As I have mentioned above, I am always trying to learn from my experiences like my wonderful times with JetBlue Airways as well as an unfortunate situation I found myself in. Anyway, I enjoy the freedom this lifestyle gave me immensely.I met hundreds of new souls on a daily basis with JetBlue and will never forget all of you! Again, I feel blessed thanks to those beautiful souls who have touched my life i.e. so many wonderful jB customers as well as my former fellow jB inflight crewmembers (flight attendants). Thank you for the good times guys! Muchos besitos to my jB family in the FLL! I will miss you all but...as native Americans say, there is no word for goodbye, only see you again...Unfortunately, over the course of these past seven years of "Bush-shit," I can't say I am proud to be of this country other than the fact I am grateful to be an American, with liberty and freedom, which by means of being mislead into war, we now continue to fight for to this day. But are we truly fighting for defending our "freedom" and the future "freedom" of the Iraqi's or for that damn black gold we continue to die for as well as ruin our environment with? This is for a whole other discussion in itself, eh?!! Don't even think about whipping out a nice Merlot or Pinot Grigio with me or...yo...fo'get about it!!My dream is to continue to be happy within and breathe through my heart, to be happy with someone who finds me of interest and intrigue!!, to fall in love with and continue to fall in love with my beloved over and over again, to be a positive influence, supporter and number one fan of this person. Finding someone who can stimulate me mentally, emotionally and physically is whom I will find. Oh how wonderful it will be to find the reciprocal. I look forward to continuing to learn (especially from my mistakes as well as challenges), grow and have my life path revealed to me as I choose it. I look forward to walking side by side with this special someone who, in general, has the same outlook as I do on life as well as similar life goals and dreams. Having the same interests of creating beautiful children between our sacred space will be just divine! The sooner the better would be great, however I am beginning to realize that in order to make sure not to "settle," my future blessings will come when the time is right and once again, when the stars are aligned!I do look forward to the days when I am barefoot and pregnant. I can't wait to continue to...explore this amazing earth...together, with my beloved!!...throw the skateboards, boogie boards, surfboards, snowboards, kayakes, guitars, tambourines, i-pods, dogs, babies in the backpacks, kids, friends, family, firewood, food (especially the marshmellows, graham crackers and chocolates), beverages (of course) into the VW Bus/Vanagan/Westfalia, boat, plane! and go on day, weekend, week-long, month long surfing/snow safaris, etc. Such trips throughout the U.S. as well as the world would be just ma'velous!One of these days, I would like to spend a month or longer! in Mendoza, Argentina's wine country. Moving to Barcelona to focus on my Castillano Spanish as well as to gain some experience teaching English would be great as well. We shall see where the wind takes me. Someday, I would love to buy a vineyard, such as in Mendoza and find a wonderful vineyaron with a great family to tend to the vines, the grounds as well as the property.I would love to own waterfront property in Africa someday as well! She called me twice and has yet to cease calling me. She is the heartbeat, the drumbeat of our mother earth. And I look forward to not only enjoying her being, but giving back to her exquisite environment and her people in the future.I would love to continue to explore Israel as well as Judaism and Kaballah with my beloved. I would like to spend my time with someone who is spiritual and open-minded towards such religions and cultures as Judaism, my heritage, as well as someone interested in learning about and celebrating all religions and cultures.Future places of travel interest as well are Fiji, Nepal, Tibet, Bhurma, Cuba, Cabo and many more Caribbean islands, taking an Alaskan cruise, much more of Europe i.e. this time Italy, France and Amsterdam as well as some of Eastern Europe i.e. Prague. I would love to return to Brazil, India, Africa, New Zealand, Israel and Hawaii as many times as possible over the course of my lifetime.The key nowadays, in my opinion, is to have multiple streams of income so as to have my money working for me vs. having to work hard for my money. Having to continue down the same path the majority of our ancestors have taken doesn't seem to be the best option anymore in these wonderfully changing, entrepreneurial times. They have worked SO HARD their whole lives for their money to what? look back and wonder where all the time went and when they'll get the time back to really, truly be open and able to enjoy it, to truly live a first world country, American dream, to be "financially free" as well as have the time to personally give back to people as well as our environment?Along with swimming, my passion is singing. New friends as well as old who have been introduced to my voice and words often give me a hard time I have yet to do anything with my given talent, or, as they say, "my incredibly given talents." Singing is my heartbeat, my drumbeat.Sushi, Thai, Italian, Mexican, Cuban, international cuisine in general!, chocolate, cheesecake and anything in between!, great (flavorful) beers, wines, etc. never hurt anyone either, eh?! unless of course it did, then I commend you for your abstinence!"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.-Reinhold Niebuhr.I have been told I would be a great actress and should consider pursuing acting as well as stand-up comedy! I have also been told I remind people of everyone from SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker), with my long, curly sandy/bleach blonde hair and personality to Bette Midler with my firey red hair to many other familial people! This is always a nice compliment, that I exude a familiar feeling to others.Of course I love to dance and express every emotion through each movement that comes to me, just as such with my voice or flowing through the water, the air, the land! This love probably originates from many incredible years of synchronized swimming from the age of four through fourteen? as well as my love for the creative arts, fine arts and my adventures and travels via many roadtrips, living on a boat circling the world and flying around the world.I love to be the center of attention but can also be just as much of an introvert. I most definitely enjoy having meaningful, in-debth, deep conversations and am open to all political and religious opinions as we're all entitled to such. Throw out a word, a thought, an idea, an opinion, an analysis, a saying, a phrase, a quote and I can analyze it for hours with someone, of course it often takes the right someone(s) to do such with. Throw it out again and I can whip up a line instantly from a song, a movie, a play!I am also interested in going back to school for my Masters in international education, TESOL or international relations with an emphasis on micro-financing and/or fair trade...not free trade folks. Look up the differences i.e. on Google or via my personal blog website with many links to websites/organizations I am involved with. www.lusciousblue.com Or, I might just pack up and...wander for awhile! Possibly with a non-profit organization I would consider establishing focusing on micro-financing as well as fair trade throughout the many villages of our earth who are in desparate need of assistance. Remember, "Not all who wander are lost!" For now, I consider myself a "slipper internet activist!" I am also considering law school, possibly by combining law with an emphasis on international relations so that I can really feel like I am making a difference in this world with regards to environmental or humanitarian defense."Success" in my book, however it may seem from all my previous thoughts, bottom line, is feeling fulfilled via happiness and love and sharing this with others. The experiences I've had thus far have been so incredible, however morbid this may sound, if I were to die tomorrow, I feel fulfilled from this magnificant gift of life and experiences I've encountered thus far. Cheers and thank yous through time and space to my immediate family as well as extended family, friends and passerbys!After circling the world via a program called Semester at Sea through the University of Pittsburgh in the Spring of 1995, everything now feels like the cherry on top of the sundae! I feel blessed to have crossed paths with those precious souls throughout such travels of mine thus far.I am a very passionate person and believe in sharing my passions with others. I have been a "teacher" throughout the majority of my life. I believe one's knowledge of a subject, a passion can be increasingly enriched, as well, by teaching it. I look forward to many more such experiences in the future such as sharing my advanced knowledge, based on whichever next path I choose as a college professor. Working with people is what energizes, stimulates, inspires and motivates me.I have taught group, semi-private and private swim lessons from the age of twelve; synchronized swimming; shallow & deep water aerobic classes; C.P.R.; First Aid and Lifeguard Training courses as well as ESL (English as a second language) and basic to intermediate computer skills."Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." -Theme poem, Akeelah and the Bee, Lionsgate/Starbuck's Entertainment." Thank you for taking the time to read "About Me," in this space, MySpace, my place in the world wide web of the 25% of the cosmos we know of!
