About Me
Oh, I am one of a kind, me. I am THE Powerpop "connoseur", meaning I can tell if something is really powerpop, or not. Now, you're wondering, what IS powerpop??? Well well well, it's a VERY tuneful, catchy but loud, kind of rock & roll. Lots of harmony, catchy as fuck, the songs you can't get out of your head, jangly and guitar-based, or it could be loud, fuzzy, feedback-ridden powerchords. Most people misclassify this as pop-rock. Songs are king here. In this subgenre, songs like this are the type you would EXPECT to be played on the radio, and they were in the 60s and 70s, but most are not these days for some reason or another. Perhaps powerpop is pop music that is not commercial??? Discuss. Perfect example: The Raspberries' "Go All The Way". If you don't know this classic, Google it, PRONTO. A current example of a big hit that is powerpop: the All American Rejects' "Move Along". Basically, pop and popular are two different words nowadays. They used to be one and the same but went off on two separate tangents. Because an artist is POPULAR does not make their music POP music, and most REAL POP and POWERPOP music is not POPULAR...get my drift??? Again, discuss...Anyhoo, many bands are misclassified as powerpop, and vice-versa. There are bands and artists that are referred to as emo and screamo, when they are really powerpop, like the All-American Rejects, the Get-Up Kids or even Weezer ("Buddy Holly" IS a powerpop classic, not opinion but fact, the hooks, structure, everything), and Butch Walker's "Letters" album was called "emo-ish" by one party or another, when it's anything but. Now, honestly, I can't stand emo or screamo...sounds like a bunch of whiny kids crying about their girlfriends dumping them, to a tuneless, endless song...I'm like ENOUGH!!! Some of these bands have some good, tuneful, pop ideas, but their vocals just ruin it for me, like The City Drive or Boys Like Girls.Anyhoo, more about ME, I am fun to be around, especially at shows. Many people say I make an indelible impression on others. I aim to be the ultimate scenester. Oh yeah, I'm starting a record label...it's in the beginning stages, and I have no clue how to do it, but I received feedback from others who know me and they all said "Do it do it, DIY!!" Any info would be helpful, as I want to make my mark in the music/entertainment industry and don't know how, YET many have said, it's not what you know, but who you know, so I'm saying to myself GO FOR IT!!!Oh I am also single & straight, so ladeez??? Any date-related propositions, I'm open.Besides music, I'm into: intelligent, philosophical cconversations about all aspects of life, cats (animals in general but I am mostly a cat-lover), roadtrips, rollercoasters, adventure & exploration of all kinds, and new experiences.
