What Kind of Soul Are You?
Anyone I can learn from who has a willingness to learn from me as well. In other words, if we can become better people from knowing each other (doesn't necessarily mean in person), you're cool with me. The first thing to learn about me is that I'm proud of my culture and heritage, and I LOVE my God. I love people, in all shapes, shades and sizes. I love every color under and beyond the sun, and every style imaginable. As long as it's true to you, do you. Another fact about me is that rather than be on some "Anti-White" or "Pro-Black" status, I'm about being "Progressive." Growing & learning from life starts with learning who you are by learning where you came from. And that starts with your history, spiritually and genealogically, whatever it happens to be. Unfortunately, some of us have been handicapped in the sense that we have to work backward. And lastly, as I said before, I love people (in AND out of the church). So if anyone has/needs an open ear, some advice, or words of encouragement, I'm here. Love y'all!!! Special shout out to all the sisters I thought I'd never have. The ones who encourage me & always keep it real. (Top 4 from left to right- Akos, Nads, Mich & Thalia): Fellas, read my "Heroes" section...you'll be glad you did. :)
old school/ CONSCIOUS hip-hop, old school/ CONSCIOUS reggae, R&B, neo-soul/soul, gospel, alternative, some rock/modern country, and classical...basically GOOD music.
Coming to America, The Color Purple, Malcolm X, Lean on Me, Love Jones, Sparkle (What y'all know about the oldies?), and there are many more.
The Cosby Show, A Diff'rent World, Martin, Living Single, In Living Color, Good Times (basically most throwback shows), Girlfriends, One Life to Live & General Hospital (but I'm not addicted), one or two reality shows, cartoons depending on my mood.
The Bible, The Autobiography of Malcolm X (Alex Haley), No Disrespect, the Coldest Winter Ever (Sister Souljah), HIS RULES (Full title & authors in pic gallery. If you can't see it, just ask me to send you the link).
Jesus Christ, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Mandela, Joe Clark, Kirk Franklin, Pac, Mary J, Paula White, Marianne Williamson, Hariet Tubman, Nina Simone, Tina Turner, Donna Richardon-Joyner, Suze Orman, Oprah, my daddy and my mama!!!!!!!!Also...I just wanted to give a special shout out to all of my guy/male "friends" on myspace. God has recently revealed to me that there are a lot more good guys out there than we as females sometimes think. He's also shown me that we as women can either help to encourage our men to show more of the positivity within themselves or the negativity. A lot of us pray for a good man, yet we discourage those who are doing their best by choosing the "bad guys" or just forgetting to let the good guys/men know how special they are. Well, I'm letting all of you know right now that you're all BEAUTIFUL! Forget about your flaws at this moment, cuz I see your potential in your attributes, and God's not through with any of you yet. Forget just using the word beautiful for a female. It's not a feminine or soft word. The truth is the truth, and I wanna make sure all of you know that you're acknowledged and appreciated. We as females often wait for guys to tell us we're beautiful, sweet, caring, special, etc., but we rarely return the sentiment. So I'm letting you all know now, Jason, Rodnel (even though you have ISSUES!!! LOL), Delvin, Adrian/Jr.(Glamour of MP), Eugene, Joseph, and anyone else I've failed to mention...you guys are the greatest. Just don't let it get to your head. lol. And for those reading this, please don't ask me if any of these guys/men are or have been more than a friend. Whether the answer is yes or no, that's MY business, so mind yours and keep it movin. lol. Yeah I can call you beautiful and tell you to mind your business all in the same message, cuz I'm Keisha. lol. 1/2 Joking. Anyway, I just want to thank all of you for everything. Whether it's been with help fixing up my apartment, encouragement at work, or even helping me to battle my insecurities, you've all been there for me in one way or another. Now back to the ladies. PLEASE let people know how much you appreciate them whenever you can. That includes both males and females. And I'll let it be known that I love you all too. We spend so much time overanalyzing and hating on each other that we sometimes neglect to notice the similarities God has implemented in all of us (Nadia and Rese/Mo', you know we have twin souls. lol). And if we were created in his image, how can any of us be less than beautiful. On another note, we need to stop settling and start reevaluating. Reevaluating who we are vs. who we really want to be and what type of person we really need to be with in order to become that person. Believe me, the right one for you is out there somewhere. As for me, I haven't found him yet, but I'm at a place where I think I'm getting closer. All I can say is that sometimes you pray for God to point you in the direction of the good guys, and you actually get more than you bargain for. Never give up on yourself, your people, or your God...and you'd be surprised at the outcome. That's all I have to say for now. I hope my words have had a positive affect on at least one person who has read this. Peace (the thin line between love and hate that keeps us sane). K
