About Me

Born and raised on the Texas-Mexico border, Ana Lisa Portillo is a classically trained violinist who has performed with symphony orchestras in New Mexico, New York, and Massachusetts. Her interest in world cultures led her to perform with and arrange for Celtic, salsa, Latin American folk, and Mexican son bands. Additionally, she has directed and toured with various mariachi groups since 1990. She currently performs on vihuela with Boston-based Mariachi Palenque, and she also freelances as a voiceover artist.
Ana Lisa holds a Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University, a Two-Year Certificate from the Berklee College of Music, and Suzuki Violin Teacher Certification.CONTACT aportillo(at)berklee(dot)net
