About Me

The pressure of courtcases and nonstop grindin' hasn't kept Dayton Kain down. Nope. All he did was rewrite the strategy while he was waitin' in the cut. You can also now be on the lookout for Dayton Kain on www.hiphopworld.tv, Kain was recently hired as the newest interviewer for this global hiphop website being ran by hip-hop heavyweight Dame Grease.
The success of his last album, "Come Drink Witt Me" (February of 2007), has sparked the interest of many record labels, which has caused Dayton Kain to double on his hustle & grind and start work on the new album "Cocaine & Whiskey". Although he's hoping to be signed by the time that the album comes out, Dayton Kain is prepared to release "Cocaine & Whiskey" independantly under his Cold Cash Committee label.
"Come Drink Witt Me" broke down many barriers in the local music community. It led him to perform at a local bar Pitchers, which is mainly a home for the local rock bands. Dayton Kain was the first rapper to secure a regular slot on their live performance schedule. Dayton Kain's shows rocked Jefferson City like no other. The hottest rappers from the area opened up for Dayton Kain. Po Dave & Potnaz Only Ent., Sean Nic & Spec Ops, C-Spit, M-Tez, DJ DaCick 1, DJ Face, and a few others.
Dayton Kain started freestyling at parties and at school back in 1996, but it wasn't until 3 years later that Kain started to taking things seriously. In 2002, Dayton Kain released his debut, "The Dynasty Begins...EP". Although the recording wasn't that great, it solidified that Dayton was going to be a force to be reckoned with. 9 short months later, Dayton Kain released a compilation album, "Dayton Kain presents...LAS Vol. 1". The album featured rappers from all over the country that Dayton had ties with. It also got him publicity via being featured in the Jefferson City News Tribune. "ReMiXtApE", a selfmade mixtape, featuring Dayton Kain over popular industry beats was also a huge hit for the up & coming rapper. In 2004, Dayton Kain had his biggest release to date, "Dayton Kain presents...LAS Vol. 2". This compilation album featured artists such as the 334 Mobb, Dame Grease & Vacant Lot Records, BoneCrusher, Killer Mike & Kanye West. Probably, the highest selling rap album in Mid-Missouri to date.

My Interests

Influences: I’d have to say, most definitely, the East Coast has influenced My style from the get go. But since I’m in the Midwest, we got our own lil twist on it.

My influences are such a wide range of artists, its crazy. I’ve been influenced by Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Pac, Shady, Jay Z, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, alot of the ’60s & ’70s folk artists. I think the artists like Bob Dylan and others from that time period, there was just more truth to their music. They were truly living for the moment with an eye on the future.

Today, it just seems like artists want to rap about their money and all that same old shit. Which is cool if they makin’ stuff for the clubs or whatever, it seems like we all need a club song these days to sell. Oh well though.

Sounds Like: I'd hate to say that I sound like anyone else, for real. I'll always be compared to Slim Shady simply cuz I'm white, but that don't really bother Me. If I had to give an answer though, alot of cats say that My style is similar to Jay Z. Sooner or later though, cats is gonna be tryin' to say that they sound like Me. Just know... I'm the REAL and ONLY Dayton Kain.
