Inner Workings is my solo keyboard project that came into existance in 2004 when I decided to hook up 2 of my keyboards a Korg Poly61 and a Yamaha SY22. Both of these keyboards are well known for their strange array of sounds and by using a sustain pedal and a few effects the possibilties were endless.
On Halloween of 2004 I performed the musick for a Black Mass that was held at Splattergod's Record Store in Tampa FL., it was my first performance with these 2 keyboards and the effects of that performance were so profound that one person went home that night and actually hung himself and was found dead the next morning.
On Saturday December 25th 2004 a strange feeling overcame me and a voice in my head told me to hook up my 2 keyboards to my Fostex 16 Track Digital Recorder, so without hesitation I did so. I knew something very strange was coming as I could feel vibrations through my whole body as I prepared the equipment.
Just like that night at The Black Mass I just let my mind flow and let the voices in my head tell me what to do and play. Scanning through the sounds I picked out 2 that felt right together and pressed the record button on my Fostex. Then it came! The strange sounds of my first recording of what was to become Inner Workings! I played and manipulated the keyboards like I had never done before as otherworldly sounds filled the room in my house, it was like someone or something else was controlling my actions and movements and after what seemed an eternity it ended. I looked down at the recorder and saw I recorded over 12 minutes of sounds and this was to become my first "song" Inner Workings. Without even listening back to what I had done I felt the vibrations coming again and repeated the whole process and I did this 2 more times after that until I was thoroughly exhausted. In the space of one afternoon 4 of these "compositions" came out of me and Inner Workings was born! What you are hearing on this CD is the actual recording of that afternoon, there are NO OVERDUBS, every sound that is on this recording was done completely live with no rehearsing, making this recording a one of a kind "channeled" inspiration that could never be repeated exactly the same as it was recorded that day.
Visionary artist Scott Clark is responsible for what you are seeing, his artwork and photo manipulation is in itself just as "otherworldy" as the Inner Workings compositions are, so there was no doubt in my mind that he was the right person to have design the booklet for this CD. His artwork is quite amazing and such visions can only come from a mind that is connected to The Universe. When I first saw his artwork I knew I had to use one of his paintings and right after meeting him I struck this CD deal with Pharmafabrik, so The Gods just let everything sort of fall in place and you are now hearing one of the strangest releases of all times. To put it simply, it's Pure Magick!
