"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute." ~Ayn Rand

My Interests

hm... photography and reading and sundays in bed with the paper... talking politics and sitting outside watching people walk by... stoop drinking, and happy hour (how fucked is it that it is illegal to have happyhour in RI...?) music... music... laughing... cooking and swimming... long walks and rainy days... debates of all kinds... collecting rocks from the shore and cars that always have sand on the floor... outside showers... laughing... i want a sunday kinda' love...

I'd like to meet:

someone intelligent... witty... sarcastic and brave... honest... adventurous and creative... funny... gotta' be funny...

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.--Dr. Seuss

..

Music:

...where to begin... really pretty much a bit of everything other than country... but see even that... i like the 'all my exes live in texas' song... and Elvira (giddy-uppa giddy-uppa giddy-uppa, my, my, heart, is on fire...) lots of world music and dance and hip hop... 'in these shoes' by Kristy McCall and the vagina song by monty python... jazz only at the exact right time and then when nothing else will do... old sing along folk and cat stevens... rap... ok... not much metal, but old sabbath is undeniable on occassion... that 'Damage I have Done' song by All Talking No Head - the Talking Heads sans David Byrne (is that his name?)... Zap Mama and Sinatra and some tony bennett... the Seldom Scene and of course, the Beastie Boys... as an adendum since my arrival and subsequent introduction to... all this crazy hilarious campy wonderful, sing out loud in the car swedish pop music that reminds me somehow of devo and that song they performed in the movie "Revenge of the Nerds"... oh so good... my first, and seriously... my obsession runs deep... the guy is fucking amazing and all should go and pay homage... Gunther (and it shames me i don't have the knowledge of how to do an umlot...) and his fantastic Ding Dong song...I'm telling you, laugh now.... well... yeah... laugh... but he kills me and makes me happy... very cool... the other hilarious swedish band being The Teddybears STHLM... "we're the mutha' fuckin' Teddybears!!!"... omg... so good... boom-chicka boom-chicka boom-chick-ahhh.... and this amazing new band called Juha that i only heard for the first time tonight and listened to with a bit of dread as it stars my oldest friend, and then delight because... thank god... it was amazing... and ahemm... i am shamed by my former omission... GRACE JONES... who is and always will be... a big star...

Movies:

movies... i'm shitty at this kind of question... i can never seem to think of anything except for Harold and Maude, and The Big Chill... my two favorite as a young weird kid but now, having seen neither for years and craving neither... hm...big Lord of the Rings fan, both books and movies... the Dark Crystal was scary when i was little... i am always, truly always, happy when i am watching a chevy chase movie, my favorite being Vacation followed closely by Fletch one and two... I hate depressing heart wrenching Schindler's List/Sophie's Choice movies though find myself on occassion... for a greater good and in the name of 'education', suffering through one ... I love disney and pixar (pixar?...) and all that crazy computer animated stuff... hate that weird phycho depressing Dancer in the Dark and Boxing Helena shite... two movies i thankfully have yet to see... like movies with narration... A Bronx Tale, Reversal of Fortune... which reminds me of Outrageous Fortune... hilarious... movies with beautiful cinematography, like Delicatessen and Amelie and the Ring and Sleepy Hollow... Pedro Aldomdovar movies... so weird... sometimes scary movies... i liked scream... the shining was the creepiest book i ever read... a whole new level of pull your feet away from the edge of the bed reading... i spent so long in a fetal position reading it i was a virgin again by the time i was done... i have no idea why i wrote that... Indiana Jones. Love him. Johnny Depp can ALMOST do no wrong... that window movie kinda' bit the big one... loved the pirate one... how hot is he?... liked the bourne identity... haven't seen the sequel yet, but want to... woody allen makes me laugh...
