Heydnische Brut originally has been a solo project by Mike H. However, different people coming and going and eventually joining the founder have given inspiration of some sort since 2004.
Lyrical inspiration is drawn out of history and the natural landscape of Northern Germany in the first place. Heather and woodland strengthen the impression as much as the constant presence of the four elements. Keeping in mind one’s own roots and always being concerned with the morals of society, Heydnische Brut not only walks the path of the past, but also the path of the present – whatever that means.
The demo "Saxnot" (2005) has been the first attempt of trying to find and walk the mentioned path which leads out of the labyrinth of thought and impression.
Another demo, "Couvain Paien" (2007), has been made to give some people the possibility of access to non-conform medieval music, including middle-high German lyrics of the Minnesang-Period and French poetry of the 15th century.
The last forthcoming work "Nebellied" (2008) has been the result of impressions collected by facing social aspects connected with ideas that have come up dealing with history - this time, it has been the idea of a concept centered on the
Nibelungen.
In April 2008, Heydnische Brut has been joined by another person who has already contributed in background singing on "Couvain Paien" and "Nebellied". In time, there will be songs written not only by the founder of the project which will keep its name, but also by the new member Malte V.
No heroes are left.
All that is left is debris.
No debris can make up a so-called hero.
All that is left is sorrow.
No sorrow can make up for the wounds taken.
All that is left is forgiveness.
Forgiveness is a word.
A passive action.
