Active Drive

They are not just a typical rock band. They are rock stars. They are Active Drive.
Based in Quebec city, Canada, ACTIVE DRIVE is considered as a rock band with some touches of pop-punk and metal. The band also tends to be melodic and pop-minded. ACTIVE DRIVE got started in 2005 when lead singer Simon Craig and guitarist Samuel Giguere decided to form a band and to write songs together. After a while, they recruted William Rheaume from a band called Lost Soul and drummer Guillaume Denis. With that lineup in place, the band started writing songs together and made plans to begin working on its first album. Soon the band had assembled a pretty impressive collection of songs, started playing all around and began spreading their name on the music scene around the Province.
In 2006, the band decided to participate to one of the best rock contest in town, the 2nd Skin Rock Contest. Strong from their live performance, they ended up among the last finalists of this contest. Pumped from this experience, the Quebec city-quartet put themselves back to the writing process in order to release an album. “We had strong songs, everybody was like...yeah, this is great but we did not really know where to go” Giguere says. “We had this vision we should try to integrate some really cool and modern-sounding stuff to our songs which makes it more than just a typical rock band”.
Early in 2008, the band was finally ready to enter the studio. They approached music producer Jean Perruno, known for his work with Canadian act JLM (1.5 million copies sold throughout the world. Nominated at the Juno Awards & Much Music Video Awards).Together they refined the whole musical direction of all the songs and recorded the whole album at the Sylver Jones Studio in Quebec. For the mixing process, Jean Perruno teamed up with reknown french-canadian producer : Dan Coulombe (B-52 and french megastar INDOCHINE). The resulting album entitled “Witness” is amazing : an overwhelming energy, hook-filled with melodic guitar riffs, blended with intelligent vocals and solid rhythm which gives ACTIVE DRIVE, its particular catchy and unique sound perfectly suitable for radios. From the ripping guitar of the opening track “Stay Alone” to the amazing radio-pop track “Who we are”, the heavy sound of “Feeding the Fire”, the catchy piano riff in the break part of “Never Give Up” and the power ballad “Sorry”, ACTIVE DRIVE’s debut album will certainly leave its mark.
These nice looking guys are now ready to take ACTIVE DRIVE where the band feels the best : on the road. The group has rehearsed extensively to work its fresh material into live performance shape and is confident it will rock its fans.
