As I was filling in the section on books, I realized that I LOVE books. I love just curling up with a book and just reading til I get tired. As a kid, I used to check out as much as my arms could carry (and as many as the library would allow)! I still have books from my childhood that I still reread every now and then and they're still as magical now as they were then. I think it would be really neat to be able to write like that and transport someone into another world for the length of that book.
I'm a pretty active person. I've been playing soccer for several years now recreationally.
I absolutely love the people I play with and for once they're all around my age. Friends around your age are good. I felt like I was forever going to be surrounded by 30somethings - not that there's anything wrong with them, but there's something about hanging out with people your own age.
I also like thrifting for clothes & things to decorate my place, colorful pictures for my walls, browsing through little giftshops, walking in the park, people watching, running, and playing the description game. Namely, describe a moment of your day or something that interested you today in as much vivid detail as possible. It gets the mind working and improves your ability to express yourself. Try it.:) I love to dance and find myself moving to the beat wherever I am. Yeah, I used to care about looking weird, but not so much anymore.
And I LOVE food. I love eating it, making it, talking about it, planning for it, getting other people talking about it. Some of my favorites are: Korean, Indian, Thai, teriyaki, a great thick burger & crispy fries, fish and chips, chicken and dumplings, chicken pad see ew.
No posers, fakers, or crazies.
Okay, people from my junior high or high school. It's interesting to see what people are up to nowadays.
I love music with a fast beat and lyrics. I'm not a big fan of mood music and instrumentals. The music I'm more likely to like is something that you can walk to. I'm on a kick right now where I'm listening to Semisonic. I absolutely love this album - Feeling Strangely Fine. Sadly, my cd will no longer play my favorite tracks all the way through.:*(I also like Frou Frou, Jem's ep, and Joseph Arthur, Timo Maas' Loud album, Lamb, Tegan and Sara, Death Cab for Cutie.
I really like listening to nostalgia music. I feel old when I hear a radio station say that they're playing a mix of oldies - 80s and 90s music. Early 90's music is my favorite, though I find myself listening to that techno station on 89.5 during my commute home.
I'll fill this in more later, but I love: Gladiator - those scenes with him walking through the wheat trailing his hand just grabbed me by the heart, same with how Christian Slater's character empathized enough with a lonely woman crying in the window to bring her flowers - in Bed of Roses, Schindler's List, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Constant Gardener. I guess I'm a romantic at heart.
I've had a steady diet of foreign, indie movies for the past couple years and have about reached my saturation point. Most were not my selection so I'd like to start watching movies *I* want to watch. I'll still watch any new Korean, Hong Kong, or Japanese comedy or action movie that comes out, but now I want to watch the dramas and romances that I've been missing.
Though I'm skeptical that documentaries could be interesting (my initial reaction is: they must be boring!), I'm going to get my schoolteacher friend to let me know when she's found a neat one to watch.
Recently watched: Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Crash, Ladies of Lavender, Me And You And Everyone We Know. I absolutely loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I want to rewatch it on an idyllic Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
I still need to see Hotel Rwanda. Send me recs if you've seen a good movie lately.
C.S.I. - I love the interplay between the cast. Each show offers tantalizing glimpses into each of the characters' lives, but I keep missing episodes, so one of these days I'm going to rent the box set to watch. Also love Cold Case for it's characterization. I think the main character is beautiful and I even love her funky updo.:)
I'm a big fan of Orson Scott Card. Some of my favorites of his Ender series are: Ender's Game, Children of the Mind, The Speaker of the Dead. Terry Goodkind is also a fantastic writer. I'm waiting for his next book to come out. I still like children's books. The days when I have time to savor a books are few and far between, but I treasure those Saturdays when I can curl up with a book and just read.
I really admire those who will take the time to stop and offer their help if
they see someone evidently lost or confused - and who don't think it's anything special or out of the ordinary to offer that help.
