The Black Hats was formed in the summer of 2007, when two veterans of the Las Vegas music scene, Sonny Reece and Shaun Flannery got together and started sharing songwriting ideas. They soon realized the need to put an outstanding group of musicians together to bring the songs they were writing to the masses.The group's guitarists John Wedemeyer and ‘Ol Hayseed are well known and much respected in the national music community, having played with artists such as Eric Thompson, Steve Smith, Chuck Leavell, Charlie Musslewhite, Jason Becker and Pat Travers. Rounding out the groups lineup on bass is Kevin Anderson.The Black Hats bring together a unique blend of southern rock and traditional country styles to bring a new brand of “alt-country†to their fans. Fueled by the songwriting of Sonny Reece, the songs performed by The Black Hats explore the seriousness of questions like “How Do You Look Naked,†and much less serious topics such as love lost and unrealized dreams.No strangers to the Country touring circuit, the group also performs and ever-evolving set-list of Country and Rock ‘n Roll songs spanning mulitple decades, sure to please todays diverse musical tastes.This is not your fathers Oldsmobile...this is high-energy, high-volume, guitar-pickin’ fun!
