The legendary all girl band, Lipstick,
was known as Cleveland's Sweethearts and one of the Music-Hall-of-Fame town's favorite recording artists from the 80s. Lipstick's chart topping single, "I Want To Be With You Tonight" produced by Mark Avsec -- who has credits including: Donnie Iris, Bon Jovi, and Michael Stanley Band -- was one of the Midwest's biggest hits for the year. The song was designated a "Listener's Hit" by nationally rated radio station, WMMS, in.... Cleveland.. ... After breaking into the Top 40, Lipstick's recording went to Number 14 on the charts. The recording attracted attention as a "Power Hit" on the "Power Playlists of the Nation's Largest and Most Influential Top 40 Radio Stations" in the entertainment trade publication, "Billboard". Their video was produced by ViaCom and aired daily on ViaCom.
Lipstick appeared in/on most local newspapers, music publications, cable TV, and TV and radio stations throughout the midwest.
Cleveland's Alive on 5, a local musician spotlight TV show, featured Lipstick on their primetime show and M.U.S.I.C. for Cleveland - a local hunger relief program - featured the girls from Lipstick on a 45 record produced by Rich Spina of Love Affair, Richard and the Heartbeats and Herman's Hermits. The latter project along with Rich and Lipstick united Cleveland area musicians in such a way as to create a brother/sisterhood that still remains to this day. On any given night you will find the M.U.S.I.C for Cleveland group of musicians sitting in on jam sessions with the talent hired for the evening at any given club.
Lipstick influenced female musicians as well as their male counterparts with their catchy songwriting talents and their strong vocals. Sometimes referred to as a vocal band in their early years, Lipstick later went on to command the respect and hearts of many musicians with their talent, technique, musicianship, persistance and drive, to come to be known as...

Lipstick's managment, Mitch Karczewski of Spotlight Talent, once told Lipstick that they had gigged 333 days out of 365. Lipstick was far too tired to check on it but since they gigged 6-7 nights per week and sometimes 2 shows per day, they believed it to be true!

The Lipstick girls were pioneers for women in the rock music industry. They were known for encouraging women to not just sing but play an instrument and play it well! They paved the way for today's aspiring female musicians and they continue to be leaders and an inspiration to the music industry.
The Lipstick girls have separate careers of their own now but reunited in December of 2007 after the death of their old manager and long time friend, Mitch Karczewski. They plan to work together this next year as much as their busy lives will allow and hope to come out with new catchy tunes for the times.
