Runako Sadique is a man and a band. Runako Sadique is a singer songwritter rapper musician. Runako Sadique the band is Runako and bass and digeridoo player Jo Ville and anyone else that fits into the studio booth at any given time. Runako was born in the little Island of Trinidad and was surrounded by music. He grew up listening to his mother sing everthing from The Beatles to Bob Marley. The constant singing day in and out struck a cord with Runako as he sang as much as his mother and thus inspired him to write his first accapella song at the age of 5. The musical influence from his mother continued when she taught him the first rap song he ever heard "Rappers Delight" by The Sugar Hill Gang. He loved rap music from then on. His love lead him to write his first Rap song at age 8. Runako's love for music continued to blossom even when his family migrated to Toronto Canada. He would spend most of his childhood years listening, studying and singing classic tunes from the 40's to the 90's (both world and Western music genres). During this time he began developing other artistic talents like writing, painting and drawing. He excelled at all three and began to develop a reputation as a real artist. He would write poems, sketch through entire sketch pads and paint on everything he was allowed to paint on. These self taught skills became disciplines. With the exception of a brief stint with trumpet, it wasn't until Runako turned 13 that he attempted to learn how to play an instrument; that instrument was the steel drum (the national instrument of his homeland). He played in his schools steel drum orchestra for one year. He began experimenting with different percussion instruments and became very proficient at a myriad of them including the congas, djembe, and maracas. By age fifteen he would write everyday and decided to focus almost exclusivley on writing (this was due to the change in his voice caused by puberty). He would skip any undesirable class in order that he might go to the library and read Shakespeare (His Favorite writer at the time). As singing took a back seat rap came center stage. He and his good friend Damion started a rap group and called themselves "The Iron Letta Fraternity". Thier first perfomance as a group was at a school talent show. Thier performance was well recieved and impressed all in attendance; they took this small success and used it as momentum as they began to pursue a music career. They began recording in a make shift recording studio in Damion's bedroom. After highschool they began work on a demo tape. This was Runako's first taste of recording and producing his own original music as Damion was the one with the know how at the time. Damion and Runako's music had a bit of a local buzz but "The Iron Letta Fraternity" was not meant to be. They disbanded in 2001. Runako became a born again Christian In 2002 and stopped writing, performing and recording until 2007 (with the exception of a few perfomances in 2004-05. During the hiatus from making music Runako was exposed to huge amounts of 60's guitar driven Rock Music and began to appreciate the american take on the genre. This lead to further investigations of american Blues and Folk music. He began to see similarities between american foundation and big band music and his native countrys Calypso music. He began listening to great rock poets like Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. Now Runako tries to fuse the rythms and soul from his native land with american influence that he was unable to ignore. All in an effort to tell vivid stories that are seldom told in todays musical landscape. Runako's been strumming away at the guitar since 2005. He plays the guitar by ear. He began his solo career in 2008 performing at Coffee houses, community centers, churches and wherever would have him. He is currently hard at work on his debut Album that is not yet titled. He says, "it will sound like what a Indian, Latino, African, Italian american might look like"! Runako re-captured his love for rap music whilst mentouring an up and coming rapper named "Chronicle". Runako, Chronicle, GT, and J Rich formed a hip hop group called P.N.P. or Pots and Pans in 2008. Runako Sadique (the group) is a project that utalises all of things that make Runako Sadique as unique and uncommon as his name.
