Born in Southeast-Washington D.C. to judy and Joshua Benjamin jr, Joshua III, at a young age immeiiately took a strong interest in music. Due to his musical curiosity, young Josh often found him self in trouble for sneaking out of his room trying to get closer to the sounds of Al green. His parents wouid play the records of musical legends such as: Earth Wind and Fire Marvin Gay, The IsleyBrothers...And list continues...But as young grew older,thus taking a liking to the hip-hop culture, he began to realize that this was going to be a majer goal in life.Entering high school, he was already determind to make some serious "moves" as he would say!Only in the 7th grade, he was already prepared to record his first single along with his homies: Marcus and Deion, entitled the way we flow" . they performed at numerous local funktions, including libraries, parks, and any clubs that would allow him, or clubs that he could sneak into. But afew years later he was substantially sidetraked by the pressured life of a high school student. he did all he could do with what he had, but at this time, he knew he had to get his funds up."Open mic" sessions became a part of his weekly routine. He would often be outside of the clubs talking trash and promoting his music, only to rip that spot as soon as he decided to step through the doors . He emphasizes "talking the talk and walking the walk." If he spoke it, rest assured, it was going to happen. A few years after high school, A severe tragedy occurred which caused the life of young Josh's mother. Cancer was the killer, and Josh was no one to blame for her passing. Many nights he sat back and just meditated of all the good times they had. One night while medtating, it had come to him. Right then he realized that she would want him to continue pursuing his dreams.Knowing he had the eternal and spiritual support of his mother, he continued to pursue his dreams. In doing so, he met a guy through a mutual friend named Mallan, of 2G Media. They become close and often hung out. Josh featured on the "Show Me the Money" album with Mallan, and gain an educational experperience in the process.At this point, Josh labled himself, "Young XO: The Man. With his new defining alias and reinforced self confidence, XO was immediately embraced as a prominent D.C. rapper. After a while, he began to realize that he was not making any personal progress; therefore making his future with 2G Media look very bleak The time came for Young XO to make major decision...after all, he wasn't getting any younger! Needless to say, he branched out on his own. Now independent, with the help of friends such as Dee from Squares Fashion Entertainment who keeps him fresh in "Squares Gear" and who is also an investor in the "Young XO" project. and Jeff who also invested in this up coming "XO" project. thing are looking goodThat goes to show with determination ambition, a strong will, and of cours support of loved-ones, " talk about giving up is irrelevant".
