The Moonshine project

Once upon a time in the south of Holland, three little coffeeshops celebrated their 25th birthday. A party was thrown, and lots of folks were invited to come and see the best of Dutch cannabis related artists including ‘The Grass Company Allstars’, a.k.a. ‘The Headshop Boys’.Every now and then the ‘Boys’ join up, get their gear together, rehearse a few songs a few times before they show up to their annual gig somewhere in at town called Tilburg. But during their performance in 013 Tilburg in october 2006 every thing feels different. This time they actually feel like a band. This time they feel they can do more then just their showcase once a year. This time they feel like true artists who want to make a piece of history... The worlds first Smoke Opera is born! This is The Moonshine Project; created by Juicy Johnny Raven and Dr Moon.In april 2006 Juicy Johnny Raven and Dr Moon met up in a little studio in Jerusalem, Tilburg where they started to work on the beats and melodies that formed the blueprint for The Moonshine Project album. After a while they hooked up with Sir Sore from the Last Crewsaders who spiced up their music with scratches, beatboxing and raps. The next musician who made his appearance is Laurebaat, who is the bassplayer from the Dutch groovemetalband F.R.E.U.D. He played all the basslines for the album. In november 2006 Juicy Johnny Raven and Dr Moon took the project to The Larger Than Live Studios. Here they finished the project by recording the vocals who were beautifully done by The Amazing J.C. Wardenaar from Flight 195 and Jasper Rutten, leadsinger from the band Whodunit. After all this singing and playing the album finally was produced, mixed and mastered by Tom Sikkers in cooperation with Juicy Johnny Raven and Dr Moon.The story of this album is a story of a visit to The Grass Company. It’s the story of the rush to get there, the first relieving smoke, the lifting off and coming down. It’s the story of dazzling Haze and Ice-o-lator. Listening to the music one can imagine what it feels like to be in The Grass Company, even being 2000 miles away from it. The Moonshine Project is an unique coöperation of various artists and creative people who are all linked somehow to the Grass Company.January 2008, The Moonshine Project
