Dead Legend is a four piece rock and roll band from Northern Connecticut. The band spent the last 2 years performing on several national tours, including the Van's Warped Tour, as well as several regional tours building a loyal national fan base. Their 2006 self released EP "Predawn Hours" was well received and gained the band national attention from fans and music insiders alike. The band consists of Ryan Michael (vocals, guitar), Tyler McCarthy (bass), Sam Janik (guitar) and Cody Bauman (drums) who cut their teeth in the DIY underground music scene. With a focus on timeless songwriting, the band cites Tom Petty, The Beatles and an array of 90's alternative bands as inspirations.
"When we write we don't take into consideration the trends around us, we just write what we write, our goal is to stand the test of time by writing honest, well-crafted songs that are accessible," says singer/songwriter Ryan Michael. "We learned early on that if you write great songs that people can relate to, it never goes out of style."
Tyler and Ryan began playing together at 14 years old and were quickly noticed by a NYC management firm who nurtured their careers by allowing them to focus on songwriting while giving them a unique opportunity to record with Grammy Award winning producers and meet with music industry executives. Throughout their high school years they shuffled back and forth from CT to NYC and eventually came away with an understanding of the industry. Upon graduating from high school they relocated to Los Angeles, recorded an EP and began raising their profile on the west coast.
Ryan Michael adds, "You really have to be crazy to pursue a career in music, there's a lot of risk involved and you have to whole heartedly believe in yourself to even attempt it. We've had to overcome a lot of adversity over the years dealing with the state of the music industry."
During 2006 the band returned to CT and began touring extensively, sharing the stage with The Academy Is, Shiny Toy Guns, Kill Hannah, Panic At The Disco, and Hawthorne Heights to name a few.
Recently the band signed with Masquerade Recordings and is recording for a new release due Spring of 2008. The Chase will be available in stores everywhere as well as digitally from April 8th
