Layout Created at KillerKiwi.net Shiri Coneh was born in Israel into a musical family. She started her musical education at the age of 3 with violin lessons by the Suzuki method. At the age of 13 she carried out her attraction to the sounds of the classical guitar and started studying with Joseph Urshalmi.
She continued her studies and majored in guitar performance at the "Metro-West" high school in Ra'anana, Israel where she graduated with honors.Following that, she graduated with honors her Bachelors degree at the "Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance" under the direction of Joseph Urshalmi. Throughout these years, Shiri was a winner of the "America-Israel Cultural Foundation" scholarships with special honors. 2002 was an opening point of her career as she won the first prize at the "Ariane Yerushalmi- Eldor Guitar Competition" in Israel and received a special prize given by the Spanish Embassy for performance of Spanish music.
Shiri has performed in various solo concerts throughout Europe. Except for her solo career, Shiri is always open minded and ready for different and special collaborations with other musicians. She was invited by the violinist Gil Sharon to perform with him and with his quartet, as part of the "Amati Ensemble", in varied occasions in Holland and in 2007 at the "Schloss Mirabel Konzerte" in Salzburg, Austria.
Another successful collaboration is with the Spanish Tenor Singer, Enrique Adrados. Their special program gains a lot of excitement and interest by the public.
Shiri had participated in various International Guitar Festivals in Europe and the U.S.A and played in master classes with great artists such as: David Russel, Carlo Marchione, Paul Odette, Aniello Desiderio, Pavel Steidl and Roberto Aussel. In 2004 she had received a full scholarship from the America- Israel Cultural Foundation and the Aspen Music Festival to attend the month- long guitar program under Sharon Isbin at the "Aspen Music Festival and School" in Colorado.Shiri continued her studies for Master degree at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria under Eliot Fisk and Ricardo Gallen. She also studied at the Klagenfurt Conservatory with Marco Tamayo. In 2007 she had graduated her Masters at the Mozarteum with special honors. During her studies in Salzburg she had played concerts for the Jehudi Menuhin's "Live Music Now" organization as part of "Trio Collage",which developed its repertoire by performing on international stages till these days.Except for concerts, Shiri is also invited to give masterclasses in Israel and at International Guitar Festivals.Shiri is a prize winner in several important international competitions: first prize at the 1st Berlin International Guitar Competition in 2006, first prize at the 8th Belgrade Guitar-Art International Competition in 2007 and a prize winner at the 11th International Guitar Competition in Coria, Spain and at the 7th International Guitar Competition Jose Tomas- Villa de Petrer- Professional Category, Spain in 2008.
Shiri is on the faculty of the prestigious Israeli Conservatory of Music (Shtriker) in Tel-Aviv and the Magnificat Institute in Jerusalem.
