Cutting eardrums from all corners of Houston Texas, duo SIMPLE SUCCESS is yet everything SIMPLE, SUCCESSFUL and much more. After meeting on society’s tech-driven networking site Craigslist, the chemistry between the two was explosive; it was only necessity for collaboration. This would mean stirring together the ferocious cuts and unique samples from Edgar Miranda, better known as DJ CHOP E and the funky back beat hammered out by drummer Kyle Vento. Putting these two extremely talented individuals together was severely dangerous. Guard your music musicians, because these guys will snatch it and mash it more than your grandma’s nasty spuds…yuck!
While we’re on the subject of mash, this group is all about the mash-up. No music genre is left untouched, mashing music from everything from Bach’s “Toccata†to NWA’s “Boys in tha Hood.†A SIMPLE SUCCESS mash-up is much like hot dog meat, it’s a whole bunch of stuff thrown in and blended together…appetizing right? Well the music from these cats will more than satisfy your ears craving for new, different music. Imagine a soft rock intro, you throw in a huge funky live drumbeat, grind it up with a jazz acapella and a Run DMC melody loop, and thus is your typical SIMPLE SUCCESS mash up.
Together since their formation in May 2008, these two music junkies have had a great taste of SUCCESS by blessing audiences at local venues including Fitzgeralds, Java Jazz, Gary’s Spot, Club Glo, the University of Houston Main Campus for AIDS awareness day, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, where they shared the stage with 2008 Houston Press award winner best underground hip hop, Fat Tony. In December of 2008 they performed in the Dreams Come True 08 benefit campaign in association with the Alicia Keys foundation ‘Keep a Child Alive,’ sharing the stage with popular Houston acts including Mechanical Boy, Versecity, Mobonix, Fat Tony, Young Twinn and many others. DCT 08 held at the M.O Campbell center packed in the crowds and drew much media attention landing the boys from SIMPLE SUCCESS in an article in The Houston Chronicle written about the event. During the Christmas season, the two worked with former Houston hip-hop radio station Party 93.3 in Crisco Kids “Tons of Toys†drive where they collected toys for the underprivileged.
Along with live performances, the two brainiacs from SIMPLE SUCCESS do a lot of behind the scenes work, producing hip hop music with the same mentality of FRESH. You can catch them sipping cold vitamin water 5 days out of the week in their newly built studio on I45 and 1960.
The duo plans to release their first full length MASH-TAPE (mixtape??…naaa MASH TAPE) in the summer of 2009 with a line up of local and regional performances. You can stay updated with all of their news and events on any of their websites including Myspace, Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter. Houston, keep your eyes pealed for these humble minded rock stars to mash your favorite music on a stage near you!
