About Me

Festinate was born from an effort to revive Akron, Ohio locals Finality. The project never took off, but Michael Corey, former guitarist Fred Manaska, and former bassist Jenn Gotch were left with a place to practice. Mike and Fred, taking inspiration from classic and newer metal bands like The Crown, Wintersun, and The Haunted, decided to create their own sound. The result was a pummeling mixture of classic thrash riffs, melodic guitar lines, and pounding double bass and blastbeats.
The sound of Festinate was further defined upon the addition of Ryan Boehm and Jake Nicholson. Ryan’s vocal abilities in both screaming and clean singing added depth and melody to the sound. Jake’s melodic guitar pyrotechnics and heavy riffing rounded out the evolving Festinate sound, yielding a cross between old-school thrash metal and newer melodic metal.
Cut to summer, 2008. Festinate entered Conquistador Studios and recorded an eponymous five-song EP, the band’s first recorded material. It was officially released on December 19th, 2008, and gives a taste of where Festinate has been and where we are going.
Unfortunately, Fred elected to leave Festinate in the spring of 2009 for personal reasons. After a relatively painless audition, Gabe Zentner was selected to fill the guitar void and turned out to be a perfect complement to the band’s sound. He made his live debut with the band two weeks after auditioning.
Summer 2009 saw another unfortunate turn for the lineup of Festinate, with Jenn leaving to focus on her law school obligations. Auditions are currently ongoing for a permanent replacement, but Festinate will continue to melt faces throughout the summer with a little help from our bass-playing friends. We’ve got killer new material and we’re excited to play it live. We’re also looking to record a new EP early in 2010. Until then, we hope to see you at the shows, and stay metal.
The band has set up a PayPal through their homepage, so if you want the EP go to:
www.festinate.net/demo.html
(you'll want to copy and paste that)
and for $6.50 (which includes shipping) you can get a copy of it. At shows, or if you know the band and can get to them, or if they can easily get to you, the EP will only be $5.00.
The band is getting some Internet and Terrestrial Radio play pretty soon, they will list the radio/internet stations here. The first one to play them is:
Cooternets Radio
which is attached to
www.adultschatnetwork.com
Thanks to Peaches, RedRock[s], and ..sunny for starting the ball rolling!
