I am a Kentucky boy, born and raised, living in the city of Alexandria. I am the only son of a Baptist preacher. Needless to say, church and family values were big in our house. My sisters and I were raised around music all our lives. My father loved Elvis and Conway, and my mother loved all the Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline she could get a hold of. Mom and dad took us out of the city of Covington when I was about five or so and took us out to Independence where we would be (in their minds) a little safer. I grew up in sorta a suburb of the country but was heavily influenced by firends, and especially my folks. My grandfather was in a band called "The Four Aces" back in WWII where he played just about any instrument he could and fronted the band. Dad always told me that's where I get my talent from.
I started singin' in church, and fell in love with music at a young age. I got my first guitar about 12 years ago, had one lesson that cost me $10, said, "the hell with that guy" and taught myself. I don't claim to be a great guitar player. Never wanted to be. My passion was singin'. I loved to entertain people with my voice. I can keep up with the band and jam out at campfires, but I leave the music to the musicians. Back in 1997, I started performin' and competin' at Opry Houses in KY, OH, and IN and had done very well for years. Won a few, placed a few, never lost any though so that's good. Folks kept telling me to get a band together, and hit the local club scene, to showcase my talents....so I did.
My band and I have been jammin' out throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana for several years now, and anyone who's been to one of our shows...(I mean parties), can't stop talkin' about 'em! There are plenty of great local bands out there that do their best to sound great. Some of them, like my friend Dallas Moore, have a totally original sound, and some of them sound a lot like the artists they are playing. I think we do both. We can jam out somethin' from Stevie Ray Vaughn, hit 'em with a George Jones tune, and then throw somethin' oringinal out there, and you know it works when the crowd thinks another band just took the stage. We have such a variety of songs rangin' from artists like Conway Twitty to The Doors, there's no tellin' what you might hear.
I was signed to the Independent label of Baritone Records for a while, and released a single with "Tired of Reachin' for No One", and "I Don't Want to Lose You". The single sold out very quickly and has recieved some regional and international airplay. I have since left Baritone, and my band and I just released our first full length CD titled "The Night the Angels Cried".
Yeah, Music City. Been there...done that. Played the "who do you know" game, but being a little fish in a big pond ain't my idea of a fun. Don't get me wrong, I'm ain't afraid of gettin' dirty and payin' my dues. I give 110% every night, and work my ass off for every crowd, but my life is my family. Being on the road 24/7, would be difficult while raising three little girls. If I could do both, you'd bet your ass I would. But let's be honest, wouldn't you'd rather catch a big fish in a little pond, than have to tell your friends a story about the one that got away?
I tell ya what, I think I am getting the hang of this entertainin' thing and I thank God everyday that I am able to do what I do. It may take off, it may not. There is so much talent out there that needs to be heard and seen, but if you get a chance to check me and the band out, there ain't no smoke, ain't no mirrors, or lazer light shows. It's real country in dirty bars where you might get beer spilled on ya, but what you see is what you get. What you get is... THE BEST IN "CINCYCOUNTRY!"
