About Me

I have gone through some changes since leaving my home in Santa Ana Heights (now incorporated Newport Beach)... Following music and my love for singing, I moved to San Francisco in 1991. San Francisco is a great place for people in their 20's; I had a blast singing and following great music. But a short time after meeting my now husband in 1992, I decided one musician in the family was enough (he is a singer too!)... I went back to school, graduated from San Francisco State University, with a BA in Liberal Studies/Creative Arts, and went on to get a multiple subject teaching credential. After teaching 6th grade in SF for 4 years, my life changed again with the birth of my son, Jordan, in 2002. I quit working, became a stay-at-home mom, and moved to Vallejo, CA, a suburb of San Francisco. Then, when my son was nearing school age, my life took another turn. Vallejo's school system has a bad reputation, so I got on board with some other concerned Vallejoans and helped start our very first K-8 Charter School. Our school was approved by our district (not an easy task!) just 3 months before my son was to start Kindergarten. Happily, he attends Kindergarten there now, and I work as the Language Arts Intervention Teacher and volunteer my time as the Parent Volunteer Lead. I am always busy and not afraid to admit that I am obsessed with my son, who, along with my husband, Mike, and "sister", Lisa, is my very best friend.

My Interests

Here are my goofy habits... I love to turn up the music, sing, and dance with my husband and son in our living room (or sometimes all by myself!) -- It would probably be pretty funny to anyone passing by :) I also enjoy doing just about anything outdoors, like swimming, camping, and hiking in the summer.

Music:

I'm bored of all my old favorites. I like most genres, except hard rock. I LOVE hearing new music. -- Send me your favorites; I'd love to check them out!

Movies:

Since I only get to watch kid movies these days, my latest favorites are the Harry Potter movies (books too).

Television:

I have no time for tv, but I really miss watching Desperate Housewives.

Books:

I'd love some recommendations -- I enjoyed Anne Rice's Witching Hour series, but NOT the Vampire Chronicles.

Heroes:

My ultimate heroes are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Socrates, and Mahatma Gandhi. I would love to see some people affect change in our time -- Maybe Barack Obama - ? Only time will tell...
