Some New Monster was formed from the remnants of several local bands. Andrew and Ryan are former members of the now infamous Kidskin. Their skills were honed by an avantgarde form of rap and metal the likes of which have still never been duplicated. Matt's crew Neuroaxis frequently shared the stage with Kidskin and Austin based metal band Vex. After highschool Ryan participated in such acts as District Red and Dark End Down. Andrew went for a more mellow acoustic vibe in the following years with his solo act, Greentree. Matt entered the pop driven band The Queen and I in later years and after a breakup all three reunited to form acoustic rock band Eastern Light with Andrew on vocals and acoustic, Ryan on drums, and Matt on bass. Some New Monster is made up of the same members though with Andrew on electric. Their debut show in Lubbock was an opening act for SXSW's resident "Best Guitarist" six years running, Monte Montgomery and his band. They then lined up a show at the ever popular Steel Penny Pub sharing the stage with up and coming band Mother's Anthem. Previously they have shared the stage with such acts as Rocco Deluca and the Burden, who was featured on VH1 Artists You Should Know. With a driving rhythm section and melodic and heavy guitar riffs, Andrew sings of heartbreak and sorrow as well as existentialism and philosophy. Drawing from punk and metal roots, Some New Monster is poised for a succesful career with San Angelo as its lauching pad. Coming to a venue near you, don't miss your chance to see the best new original band in San Angelo.
