Armellodie is a tiny wee label, stable, collective, whatever, based in but not exclusive to Glasgow, Scotland. D.I.Y that's what it's all about...
Armellodie was initially conceived at the beginning of 2007 by members of Le Reno Amps in order to release some 7" singles of their own. After the imprint formed more comrades joined the force in the shape of Cuddly Shark and more recently Kill the Captains.
Far be it from us to make a grandiose mission statement or promises we cant keep, we're taking baby steps, after all we're only young (hohoho), we're going to let the music do the talking. Due to money and a severe lack of it Armellodie is ticking over in the digital domain at present - that means our tunes come out as squashed wee things available from all major download service providers. Why anyone would want to carry their entire musical collection with them on some electronic device barely bigger than their IQ is beyond us, but as is the nature of supply and demand Armellodie is only too happy to oblige. All of our releases thus far have been available on either vinyl or CD from the bands at shows or via links in the 'Sound like' bitty. Quite simply - get involved.
For you trivia buffs out there the name Armellodie comes from a solo piano song by the genius that is Chilly Gonzales aka Jason Beck, check him out.

Cuddly Shark
Cuddly Shark is a do-it-yourself, plug in and play rock McCombo. Idiosyncratic lyricism and odd anti-melodies combined with foot down pedal-to-the-metal performances. Rock solid with the minimum of fuss. Cuddly Shark fire from the post-rock cannon with an anarchic and free spirited unique romanticism. The songs battle between abstract punk, emphatic rock and uber-slacker country riffage with big sub-metal guitars in tow.
Their new double a-side single, 'Woody Woodpecker / Bowl of Cherries' is out on Monday 12th January. It is backed by exclusive track, 'A Nod to =W=', it's bloody immense so goes and gets it!
And of course the debut single, 'The Punisher of IV30' is still available from all major download providers and includes 'Hails of Bay' and the soon to be anthem, ''Jamie Foxx on Later With Jools Holland' as b'sides.
“Arty and angular, Cuddly Shark possess some sharp hooks and a dark post-punkintensity - like Birthday Party being thrown down some stairs with Wireâ€
Subba-Cultcha (Single-of-the-Month)
“…like what Young Knives would have sounded like if they had traded geekdom for good old fashioned fist fighting as children.â€
The Plastic Ashtray
“…like an ADD teen with a bottle of Sunny D in one hand and an AK47 in the other.â€
Is This Music?
“…they have the punk strut of The Stooges, The Cure and The Cramps ... the musical expanse of Fugazi and the humour of early Roxy Music.â€
Daily Record
“As befits the contradictory nature of the band name this lot can bark like a nutcase at a bus stopâ€
New Noise
“Cuddly Shark sound like a cross between the 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster and a bear-baiting mountie.â€

Kill the Captains
Kill the Captains came into existence in 2006 when four friends with overlapping music tastes decided to make a noise together, their previous bands having run their course. They started out as a rough-hewn psychedelic jam band, in love with the drone and playing for the sake of playing. Slowly but surely, the jams condensed into songs. These were refined and shortened into energetic pop bullets, most of which clock in at 3 minutes or less. These lean, mean tunes are unique, but are steeped in the band’s shared love of 1990s American alternative music, shoegaze and Krautrock.
Kill the Captains believe that adventurous, noisy rock music can be fun and temper their most out-there moments with shout-along choruses and the fizzing interplay between their dual-guitar attack. They are anchored by a propulsive yet metronomic rhythm section who allow the songs to spiral off into lunacy but always bring them back from the brink.
The band's debut eponymous EP was released on Monday 12th May 2008 and features BOTTOM LIP, CHRUNT, LONG IN THE TOOTH and FUN ANXIETY. Make sure you bag yourself a copy!
"...double jointed and clever pop."
Organ Magazine (Single of the Week)
"Like hitching a ride with The Strokes after they've necked a truckload of psychotropic drugs...an excellent debut EP, and a fine addition to Sheffield's already impressive roll-call of talent."
Music OMH
"Very British, imaginative yet a bit left of centre but a whole lot good. Kill the Captains are truly worthy of your attention."
The Bluesbunny
"...like listening to the house band at the asylum...very inventive and engaging."
Jukebox
"...schizoid jangling power pop."
Manchester Music
"Feedback, jingly-jangly guitar, slightly distracted vocals - what more could you want in a 3-minute popsong? This lot are full of promise."
