About Me

Music, especially the popular music & jazz from between the wars, aviation & automotive history and graphic design are my biggest passions. A couple of years ago, I decided to try to learn to be a musician and have found the going slow, but do make incremental progress. I am learning trumpet/cornet & tenor banjo/guitar. I spend the most time with the guitar as it can be played quietly late at night without causing a row with the neighbors. I play with a local banjo band and at a nearby Dixieland jazz club.

I have been a pilot since age 16 and earned an Instrument ticket some years ago. Aviation is very demanding of time and while I have become inactive as a pilot in recent years, I have never lost the passion for flying.

I am libertarian by both inclination and philosophy and university educated for whatever that is worth. I have always learned far more in the school of hard knocks than earning any of my degrees. I have done a great number of jobs in my lifetime with varying degrees of success. A few that come to mind: unloading boxcars, driving trucks, flipping burgers, auto mechanic, inside & outside sales, technical sales and running a small business.

Recent years have increasingly included volunteer work for several organizations including veterans groups helping to preserve WWII history, helping to save the Fox Fullerton Theatre and helping to found the Fullerton Theatre League.
