Becoming a man and staying true to yourself and others was not easy for most in the city limits of New Orleans. Eric White, currently known as Prospect lived the life most have only experienced in movies. Born in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Kenner, Louisiana he faced many adversities growing up and did not have much guidance as a child. Eric was raised in single parent home, his mother worked a few jobs at a time to maintain the household but sometimes that wasn’t enough, and to add to the stress her son was a problem child, she was moving him from school to school, one day his mother said she had enough. So she moved him to Orlando, Florida to stay with his older brother but that didn’t last long. Entering his freshmen year Eric had already gave his brother to many problems to handle, So his last option he was forced to go to stay with his father in Kenner, Louisiana the year of 2000, Eric father was in the military so he was rarely home, so for Eric that’s were the that’s were the trouble in the streets started, his freshmen year in high school his friend got killed and after seeing his Uncle die and his brother spend a majority of his life in prison, Prospect realized the negative road that life had paved for him but he decided to not be a statistic. The Mid 20’s rap artist began his career at 16 His inspiration to begin rapping came from listening to his incarcerated brother rap to his mother. The joy on his mothers face made him want to try and he was naturally talented, after completing high school in the year of 2004. Prospect attended Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, while there he played football and ran track, but his freshmen year he joined the band because he wanted to learn more about music he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Pre Law in the year of 2008. This new chapter in his life allowed him to find himself and grow as an artist. Although earlier in life he had experimented in music, at this point he was finally ready to face the pros and cons of the Hip Hop Industry. The music that Prospect produces reflects the struggles he faced in his youth living in the Bayou.This natural talent comes from his enriched bloodline of music including his brother Twelve A’klok, and his cousin Soulja Slim. Prospect had travelled and performed all over the southeast including: Georgia, Missippippi, Florida, Louisiana and Alabama. As well as doing his own shows he has been the opening act for artist such as Lil Webbie, Pastor Troy, Lil Boosie and others. He has also worked with artist Total Kaos, M-16, and DJ Hektik from Hittmenn Dj’s. You can hear Prospects music on one of the hottest mix tapes (circulating in Florida) “Ride With Me Vol. 24.5”. Currently Prospect has finished a 21-track mix tape that will be hitting the streets late May 2009 that will be hosted by Total Kaos and DJ Hektik. In order to further his music career he had relocated to Tallahassee, Florida where he works out of The 360 Music Studio. Through his music he plans to share his experiences a mentor the youth. Giving back to the community if very important to him and it is a major part of who he is as an artist. His goal is to impact change on youth who have no proper direction or strong and positive influences. Outside of his Hip-Hop ambitions he want to become a philanthropist and help third world countries by providing clean water, and investing money into research to cure diseases that play a major role in those countries, such as HIV/AIDS and Sickle Cell. Prospect is using Hip-Hop for as a tool for his humanitarianism. Prospect is no one hit wonder and he plans to leave an unmistakable mark in the rap game.
