~Does it Hurt?
Well...Yes! But you already knew that didn't you. The real question is how badly? It can be a little annoying, and it does sting a bit. The more relaxed you are the easier the process, and within a few minutes your body will release endorphins (which are natural pain killers) that ease any discomfort. The experience is different for everyone and everyone’s definition of pain differs with their opinion. Needless to say it is impossible to say exactly how it will feel for you, but most get through the piece without any problems.
That said, certain spots bring more discomfort than others. Any muscular area such as the shoulder and calf hurt less than say a less muscular area such as the ribs, wrist and elbows. “If you are ticklish there, it’s probably going to hurt a bit.†That said, Tattoos are permanent so you should get them placed where you want them, not necessarily on where it will hurt less. The art will last much, much longer than any pain or discomfort, promise.
~Do You Use New Needles and Pigments?
Absolutely. All needles are new. Always. No exceptions. All equipment is single service, which means that each needle and tube set is individually packaged, dated, sealed and sterilized. Ointments, pigments, needles, gloves, razors, plastic barriers, and ink caps used in applying your new tattoo are discarded after use. After the tattoo is finished, the artist disinfects the work area with a chemical that kills all viruses and bacteria.
~How Do You Sterilize Your Equipment?
An autoclave. It is the only acceptable means of equipment sterilization in the tattoo shop. Autoclaves work by using a combination of heat, steam, and pressure to kill all pathogenic microorganisms known to man. We keep detailed logs of the autoclave use, and our autoclave’s efficiency is tested and monitored by a medical doctor.
~How much does it cost?
Shop minimum is $40 and/or $80 an hour, however designs are priced by the size of the tattoo, the time involved to complete the tattoo, the complexity of the design, and other technical aspects of the tattoo. The price is also up to you because most designs can be made larger, more complex, and or made simpler and smaller to fit your tattoo budget. Just let your artist know what you would like and how much you have to spend, and he will work with you to customize an affordable piece of art, large or small.
~Should I Shop Around for the Best Price?
Absolutely. Your main focus should be sterilization and protecting your health. You will want to find an artist you feel comfortable with and whose art you enjoy. After safety and comfort comes price, and we blow away the competition with $40 minimums and custom work performed for $80 an hour.
~Can I bring in my own design?
Please do. We love working on a piece that means something to the individual. Bring in whatever you have and sit down and talk with your artist about the design. One way or another we can make it happen.
~Will My Tattoo Fade, or Blur Out?
Both are a yes, but read on. If the design is too small it can blur. Over time your tattoo will fade with exposure to the sun. We use top quality pigments to ensure your tattoo will stay brighter longer. That said, good initial skin care and a little sunblock will reduce any fading.
~Do I Need an Appointment?
Not necessarily. Though we recommend an appointment, walk-ins are always welcome. If you would like an artist to‘hold’ time for you we do require that you consult with the artist about the design, and time involved, and leave a cash deposit. Otherwise we'll see you when you get here.
~Can You Make This Tattoo SMALLER?
Yes, we are skilled enough to make a tattoo really small and detailed BUT that will not make a good tattoo. No matter who applies the tattoo, or how a tattoo is applied, the ink will migrate a bit over time. A tattoo is INSIDE of skin cells and not on top of paper. Lines applied too close to one another will blur together, and in some cases alter lettering or destroy a design a few years or even months down the road. Your tattooer is a professional and we want your tattoo to look good. Of course we will make money doing your tattoo, but not at the expense of doing a bad tattoo. Listen to your tattooer's advice and make your tattoo a size that will last and be enjoyed for years.
~What is Flash?
This is the term for the designs on the wall. Our flash is limited. Most of our flash is crafted by the artists themselves which means your tattooer has taken the time to develop his skills, efficiency, designing ability, and artistic prowess in tattooing. This is a sign of true craftsmanship.
~Will You Tattoo or Pierce Under 18
Yes, but you need parental consent. You must be 18 and you and your parent need a valid state and/or federal issued ID to be tattooed. No exceptions!
