About Me
Founded in 2003, Old Friends begin as a retirement facility for hard to place pensioned Thoroughbred stallions. When news broke that Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand had met his death in a Japanese rendering plant, Old Friends answered the call to action. Since 2005, Old Friends has been instrumental in the return of 5 pensioned stallions to the US. Old Friends takes exceptional pride in our horses - from Grade I winning champions to hard-knocking claimers such as Swan's Way who raced until the age of 15. We are privledged to provide a forever home for Eclipse award winner Sunshine Forever, Arlington Million winner Awad, Travers Stakes victor, Will's Way, European superstar Creator, Bonnie's Poker - dam of Hall of Fame Kentucky Derby winner, Silver Charm and Seabiscuit star Popcorn Deelites. On a visit to our farm, you will also meet the great son of Damascus, Ogygian and Grade I winners such as Kiri's Clown, Wallenda, Affirmed Success, Special Ring and Ferdinand's most successful son, Bull inthe Heather. Old Friends is the only retirement facility known to accept stallions, in addition to mares and geldings, on a regular basis. Through a campaign of tourism and education, we continue our mission to inform the public of the plight these animals face once their racing and breeding careers are over. By popular request here is a list of our current retirees...including the 35 onsite retirees here at Dream Chase and additional pensioners cared for at satelite locations across the region...always subject to increase, of course!
