Streams of Whiskey was born out of desperation.
Barnacle Bill (a pop rock band from NYC - www.barnacle-bill.com) was idiotically hired for an Irish gig at Egan and Sons (Montclair, NJ - www.eganandsons.com) on St. Paddy’s Day 2007. Once Steve (drums), Stuart (guitar) and Yianni (bass) realized they didn’t actually know any Irish songs, the race began and the recruiting was on.
Luckily, Steve’s girlfriend Karen (tin whistle) is psychotically obsessed with Shane MacGowan (www.shanemacgowan.com), The Pogues, and Steve (a distant third) and offered to be the musical director while basically picking her favorite songs. A month later they managed to bump Steve from drums to vocals and Karen from musical director to tin whistle. A few months and a gig later our favorite bartender entered the fray – Paulie Walnuts on drums!!! (Paulie has since blown himself up whilst lighting a cig after too many jamesons) !!! Stepping into his shoes is Tim Alworth.Finishing it out was Jeff “Polly†Young on fiddle (www.jeffrey-young.com).
Together, these 6 recreate the magic, mayhem, drunkenness and fun that was and is The Pogues. It’s a night not be missed. Be sure to come and see us! Or simply hire us,parties, wakes and anything in between.
