They’ve been lauded as one of Australia's most coveted hip hop acts and their most recent album ‘Flying Colours’ is a testament to a decade of producing the most unique and undefinable sounds in the country. With an unprecedented fan base and an exceptional reputation for their live performances which sees them combining impromptu freestyling, beat boxing and cutting edge turntablism, Bliss N Eso will leave fans exhilarated and captivated as they close the main stage at the Quiksilver Pro Show.

So far, 2008 has seen Bliss N Eso put out the year's highest selling local hip-hop release, debut in the country's Top 10 albums and maintain a place in the Top 100 since, win the ARIA for Best Urban Release, be nominated for Triple J's Album of the Year and Channel [V]'s Oz Artist of the Year, and sell out a national album tour.

Last seen at the Quiksilver Pro Show in 2007 with his Beautiful Girls bandmates dishing out a duet with Kelly Slater, Mat McHugh returns with his new solo project and a new album.

A frequent visitor at the pick of Gold Coast surf spots when on tour in the region, Mat has recently released his debut solo album, ‘Seperatista’. a free-floating animal of rare sensitivity and grace, recorded with a band largely seconded from the Sydney jazz scene.

"I thought it would be good to strip it all back and start again without the bells and whistles," says Mat. "I also wanted to allow myself some musical freedom and collaborate with other musicians. It allows me to voice the singer-songwriter side of me that's slowly being erased from the Beautiful Girls."

The Winnie Coopers originally began as a two piece band and, over time, has evolved into a blazing 5piece Hip Hop band. The Winnie Coopers are: Eloquence (vocals/guitar), The Educator (Vocals), Fingers Malone (drums), Young Tubs (Bass) and Bigbad (DJ/percussion).

As well as spreading their spirit all over Australia with five star performances at the Big Day Out, Good Vibrations, BBQ Breaks and Parklife, The Winnie Coopers have merged minds with international brethren including De La Soul, Jurassic 5, The Beastie Boys, Lyrics Born and Ugly Duckling.

The Winnie Coopers are a perfect example of how successful people can be by bending the rules, working hard and drinking a lot of beer. Maybe the beer is just a coincidence.

Kiwi self described “heavy-metal-dub-funk-blues”, five piece Kora return to Australian shores in March for a run of east coast dates. In the three years since their maiden voyage across the Tasman, Kora have expanded their fan base outside of Kiwi expats thanks to their dynamic and awe inspiring live sets.

Sharing the stage with diverse acts such as Spearhead, Cog and Salmonella Dub on various tours and gracing the stages of festivals such as The Big Day Out and WOMAD, is testament to the bands sonic diversity.

Their debut self-titled album, Kora was released in Australia in 2008 to rave reviews, following a number one debut and platinum sales in New Zealand. “If you don’t know who Kora are, it’s high time you found out. This band has got to be one of the most diverse, energetic and exciting acts around…their live show is “oh my god who the hell are these guys” The Set ABC TV

Engineering The Soul is the stunning new album from Something With Numbers. Beyond an exhilarating listening experience, this third full-length effort signals an emphatic coming-of age for the quintet, and redemption for their front man, Jake Grigg.

Formed on the Central Coast of New South Wales seven years ago, Something With Numbers have built their success from the ground up. In 2006, everything changed, as Something With Numbers found themselves rocketed to an unprecedented position thanks to their inspired second album, Perfect Distraction, and its impossibly catchy lead single "Apple Of The Eye (Lay Me Down)". Buoyed by favourable critical reaction and major FM radio play, the group enhanced their reputation as an explosive live unit, undertaking a relentless tour regime that included a whirlwind 45-date headlining blitz. Further vindication arrived in the form of a 2007 ARIA Award nomination for "Breakthrough Artist".

The John Steel Singers make the kind of summery backyard pop that is dangerously contagious. Since their emergence on the national scene in 2008, the six-piece from Brisbane have been accruing fans everywhere for tracks like ‘Strawberry Wine’ and ‘Evolution’. Playful, strong vocals – think doo-wops, falsettos and sky-high harmonies – are the standout element of this band, with horns and accordions peppering their Sixties-flavoured pop for good measure.

Back for his 3rd appearance at the Quiksilver Pro Show , Ash Grunwald’s unique, heartfelt stormer of a live show is full of passionate beats and infectious rhythms which is sure to unleash impromptu funky moves from the crowd. The man with charisma and a constant smile brings his melting pot of soulful blues accompanied by his guitar and gospel-style vocals. With an Album Of The Year from the Australian Blues Awards under his belt, a guitar securely under one arm, and a surfboard in the other, Ash is eager to return to the Gold Coast.

Ash's latest record, "Fish Out Of Water" sees him blend his roots style with the hip hop beats through a collaboration with Countbounce from TZU to create his most adventurous and accessible record yet.

Dukes of Windsor formed in Melbourne in 2005, and shortly after inception they put out their first EP titled “Foxhunt”. 2006 saw the release of their debut album “The Others”, the title track of the same name proving to be a hit with Triple J Radio and audiences nationally. The remix of The Others was a summer favorite reaching a number 1 position on the ARIA Club and Dance Chart as well being a top ten ARIA single. As a result Dukes of Windsor were nominated for an ARIA award in 2007.

The bands latest album ‘Minus’ has spawned a monster hit in the catchy single ‘It’s a War’which has seen incredible airplay across commercial radio as well as triple j and community stations.

Teaming up in Sweden with producers and hardcore legends Pelle Henriccson and Eskil Lovstrom (Refused “The Shape of Punk to Come”), the band recorded ‘Minus’ in a former lunatic asylum.

Rogerthat are a band that could come from just about any era. Their contemporaries could be the Black Crowes or the Black Keys. Anything from the Woodstock era, Marley and Lee Scratch Perry or the steel blues of Muddy Waters (circa Electric Mud)... if you could mash the raw electric, psychedelic rock-reggae of those, you’d get close to the quartet.

Based on the Gold Coast, the band have been melding their influences together at their own pace since 2003 and connecting with people through their live shows along the way. In that time they have toured and gigged with a stack well respected bands: Alabama 3 (UK), The Herd, The Beautiful Girls, Bob Evans, Spiderbait, Butterfingers and The Custom Kings.
